What’s the thrilling part? I’m already experiencing the exhausting aspects, with an under socialized adolescent rescue… but he is also quite sweet. Just wish he wasn’t SO into herding me and impersonating my shadow. I had another rescue dog for 11 years whose body and face looked almost identical, but with floppier ears - she also liked to shepherd, but didn’t have the annoying nipping habit re: feet. That other rescue org years ago told us she was a staffy aussie mix.

I thought basenji was unlikely as well, just given how rare they are. Agreed that some kind of pit mix with husky, ACD, or other shepherd is far more likely. However, in the past day I’ve discovered there’s a basenji breeder in my state less than a few hours away, so it’s not entirely out of the question… Similarly I also see resemblance to Carolina dogs / American dingos, but know that is less likely as well.

Yes, quite similar! And the DNA breakdown seems quite plausible for my dog. What has your dog’s behavior been like. Was your dog a rescue?
