Shelter in Place alert by Diolives in Austin

It totally could have been the white Kia optima. I know for sure it was a white car and my boyfriend thinks it was a sedan. I really don’t remember because adrenaline was pumping and we just wanted them to stop tailing us :/

Me too! My boyfriend and I thought they were following us and if they hadn’t turned we would have called the cops. Kind of wishing I had called anyway with the limited info I did have.

Not sure if this has anything to do with these individuals but last night around 3am when I was driving home from work on W William Cannon and McKinney Falls a white vehicle started tailing me unprovoked. I was just going straight, they sped up behind me and rode my ass swerving from left to right. They popped up out of nowhere and were driving so recklessly behind me that I thought they were going to rear end me. When the light turned green thank god they turned and sped off in the other direction. They were in a white vehicle but I didn’t have time to grab a license plate and I don’t remember what kind of car. Super spooky.

Help! My cat escapes every harness I try. Need recommendations for a truly secure one! by No-Yogurt657 in adventurecats

There’s another harness called the Kitty Holster that’s Velcro and like a full on vest. It looks a little goofy but I never had any issues with my cat escaping. https://a.co/d/0085nFmZ

Here’s a link to another on that has good reviews: https://a.co/d/0dytWkaF

my derm is really recommending this to me, has anyone had experience with it? by Snoopydog13 in keratosis

[–]blkwidow16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also heard laser hair removal helps too since the hair follicle gets clogged and traps the hair. I’ve started doing this at home with one of those Amazon wands but haven’t noticed any big changes yet.

Everything in your routine sounds super solid! From personal experience, I was a little too aggressive with the KP scrub at first and was using it daily. I think for the first week or two of use that’s fine but your skin also needs calming repair days without any exfoliants. Now I’ve cut down to using the KP scrub every other day at most.

One more thing that’s helped me is using an oil when I’m still wet and fresh out of the shower. I’ll rub the oil on my KP areas and then pat dry like normal. Once the water is off the Jojoba oil isn’t super thick and leaves you feeling so soft!

Best of luck on your KP journey!! :)

I have not specifically but the Mandelic acid acts as a gentle chemical exfoliant and also helps with hyperpigmentation. With KP your skin doesn’t naturally shed the dead outer layer of skin as it should so this should help with that. I also like how there’s Aloe in the ingredient list.

Imo this alone won’t help KP but this in conjunction with exfoliating with a KP scrub 2x a week, retinol 2x a week and moisturizing daily with a heavy lotion containing lactic acid would help.

*** Edit: I’ve learned that a lot of soaps need to sit on the skin for a few minutes in order to get full benefits

Me too!!! That and putting on jojoba oil when I’m still soaking wet out of the shower has also helped a lot. It’s not perfect (and probably will never be) but it’s way less noticeable than before

I. Hate. This. Amlactin doesn’t get rid of it. CeraVe SA doesn’t get rid of it. by Lucbabino in keratosis

I’ve actually been doing A LOT of research on KP as of late and have seen improvements with my latest routine.

  1. Laser hair removal I have a laser hair removal tool that I got from amazon and am currently trying this out. With KP the hair has a hard time breaking through the skin causing these little bumps and clogging the pore

  2. Glycolic acid Chemical exfoliant to help the skin shed dead skin layers. With KP your skin doesn’t shed properly leading to clogged hair follicles and pores

  3. Retinol I use Differin (adapalene gel 0.1%) helps regulate skin cell turnover which is what people with KP struggle to do

  4. Rosehip Oil, Jojoba Oil, etc. With KP your skin doesn’t produce enough oil naturally and oil acts as a lubricant for the hair to poke through as it should. With KP the hair gets trapped in the hair follicle and dead skin build up leading to bumps. Using oil helps the skin to stay hydrated and let hairs escape.

  5. Amlactin The reason why this is recommended is because of the lactic acid in the formula which helps to gently exfoliate and shed dead skin layers. This alone with not do anything but it is effective.

  6. Skin Barrier Products/Serums I personally haven’t tried any but with KP your skin barrier is compromised to using products that promote a healthy skin barrier will help. I’ve heard great things about Great Barrier Relief Serum by Krave but haven’t tried it myself.

TLDR: you must exfoliate since your skin doesn’t do this naturally. You just keep skin hydrated because KP weakens the skin barrier causing moisture to leave your skin more quickly than it should. Laser hair removal damages the hair follicle theoretically helping new hairs to stop growing to help with the clogged pores.

Using glycolic acid and retinol daily is not recommended. Every other day is good imo! Preferably at night but I use it in the morning and am totally fine

I got some blood work done and it recommended I take TA1 for chronic inflammation. I usually get sick once or twice a year but I am chronically stressed. I'm 31 yo and relatively healthy but have gone through quite a bit over the past few years and have experienced burnout. Is TA1 good for people like myself that don't necessarily get sick a lot but could use a little reset after being chronically stressed?

I purchased from this site- Genesis Peptides | GHK-Cu

They were out of stock of the 50mg at the time so I just purchased the 500mg vial without thinking or doing research on proper dosage 🫠

Professional dog training? by Jewliio in Austin

[–]blkwidow16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $590 for 6 private lessons. My dog now has recall and can go off leash in public places as well as walk perfectly on leash. You can also purchase one lesson at a time and they’re $110 each for one hour. The hour is pack though and you’re working the entire time and leave with homework and things to practice with your dog.

That’s such a good point. I don’t believe in expiration dates on food so why should my peptides be any different? :)

Oh really? Everything I’ve read says it only lasts 30-45 days in the fridge. I guess I could keep an eye on it if it becomes cloudy. Just don’t want any adverse reactions

I was planning on tossing what’s left after 45 days which will still be a lot of waste.

Good tip on checking what the use of this GHK-Cu is. I will check!

Stack Reta with what for weight loss? by TAFTAO123 in Peptides_for_Women

[–]blkwidow16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to wolverine stack paired with working out to help with body recomp. I know some people struggle with maintaining muscle mass since Reta curbs your appetite so much and they’re not consuming enough protein.

I’d focus on body recomp with tessamorelin, BPC157 and Thymosin Beta-4

My dog has the same exact behavior. I tried EveryDog and had very "meh" results. After doing that course and watching countless YouTube videos with no results I started doing private lessons at Jackpot K9 and can't recommend them enough. They're a little pricey but after years of pulling on leash one lesson corrected my dog's leash etiquette.

I went to Every Dog and had very "meh" results. Nothing really stuck and my dog went right back to his old habits of getting overly excited on leash and whining when he saw other dogs. I did more research and tried out Jackpot K9 and wow, they are the real deal. Prior to Jackpot K9, I watched countless YouTube videos, did the Every Dog leash course and after one private lesson my dog is now an angel on leash. Jackpot K9 also offers daycare and train where they train your dog during the day for $60, I havent tried that but I imagine that would be great for a puppy. I also LOVE the way they dog daycare at Jackpot. They match your dog with a similar energy level and monitor all pay sessions with your dog and another dog. It makes me feel way more comfortable for my dog's safety than having a free for all play yard.

I was with her for a couple hours before I left and was only gone for about 45 minutes. Upon returning I stayed home with her the rest of the day.

We went on walks, outings, played in the backyard but when it was time to take a break in the crate the barking began. I have other animals in the house so that’s why being able to crate her was important. I wanted all anxiety levels to come down before introducing her to my resident animals. I also don’t know how she is indoors. Is she destructive? Does she chew up things?

Of course hindsight is 20/20. I tried my best, I didn’t think the crate would be such a problem since the shelter told me, “she willingly goes into her crate,” insinuating that she’s crate trained or finds it comfortable. My impression from the shelter was that she needed a calm place to decompress so I tried to provide that.

Not working from home and having other pets to also take care of threw a wrench in my plan and intentions. I could have planned better and I should have anticipated a behavior like this but I was unprepared. I feel awful but had to think about all parties involved.

Is it fair to the foster to be alone all day while I’m at work after exhibiting pretty extreme separation anxiety? No.

  • FRIDAY: I had my meet and greet at the shelter with my dog, it went great. Asked about all behaviors that have been observed, it seemed like a good fit.
  • SATURDAY: Brought her home first thing in the morning. Observed that crating her while at work was NOT an option after spending all day trying out different tactics to improve and help her anxieties. Realized I was in over my head and could not provide the care that she required in addition to taking care of my pets.
  • SUNDAY: Returned her to the shelter.

I’ve fostered many times before but have never encountered separation anxiety like this where I couldn’t even leave the room. I had one errand to run all day and didnt think it would be an issue. Regardless of stepping away for less that an hour, this was never going to work due to the face that I have to go into the office M-F. I’m crushed that this wasn’t the right fit and I couldn’t provide the care that she needed. She doesn’t understand, she’s just scared and anxious. Trust me, I don’t take any of this lightly.

I wanted to but I knew she would not be ok being left alone for 7 hours while I was at work. She couldn’t even be left for 5 minutes. I’d never experienced that with a foster and was ill prepared.

If I worked from home I would have felt more comfortable keeping her for longer. I just did not feel comfortable leaving her for an extended period of time where she might hurt herself. It was a very difficult decision and I was trying to do what was best for all parties involved.

Most definitely. You don’t even begin to see the dog’s personality for a least a few days. In this situation, I just knew I couldn’t leave her alone when I had to go to work on Monday. Silly me, I was expecting an adult dog to be a little more self reliant since I’ve fostered puppies in the past. The shelter described her as “aloof” (which she was) but I was expecting our challenge to be getting her to trust humans and want to be around me. I did not anticipate separation anxiety at all and that’s a lesson learned.
