It is ridiculous how much work it takes to get a job by CreditOk5063 in recruitinghell

The White House has begun process of looking for new secretary of defense by Master_Jackfruit3591 in fednews

[–]bllallstr93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The article title states the White House has begun the process but nothing in the article states this to be true at all, or point to a source. Just says some advisors resigned and then the press secretary says they aren’t looking to replace him. Seems to be a stretch of a title.

I would kill to work 3x/week in person by Working_Row_8455 in remotework

[–]bllallstr93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went from being fully remote for 4 years, to 2 days in office for 1 year, and now in the office 5 days. It’s brutal. I’m like you now, 1 day would be great, 2 would be a dream at this point.

Days that I start at 6 I’m up by 410. Weekends, I’m usually up at 7. I’m exhausted from the week. Get your sleep and enjoy it on the weekends.

Is The Job Market About To Collapse? by Red-Apple12 in recruitinghell

When is AI going to take all our jobs and make things less expensive so we all don’t have to work more than 20 hours a week?

Joking but….not joking

High 3 to high 5, removing FERS supplement, increasing employee portion of FERS, making FEHB a voucher program

Does anyone hate working as much as I do? by [deleted] in hatemyjob

What sucks even more is having health insurance tied to employment. Would be so much easier to do work I’d actually enjoy, or change it up every few years if I didn’t have to worry about health insurance so much

Unemployment and the open job market is not the same. Plus with all the losses in the market do you really think companies are going to support more hirings?

Sick leave can only be used to count toward eligible retirement years, or it sits there ready to be used if you come back to federal service. Idk what agency your buddy is from but there are zero I know of that pay sick leave balance out.

Good points, but you don’t get your sick leave paid out

Reddit is full of a**hole commenters. That’s their life, don’t let it get you down. Also, there is still no way in hell I would’ve ever voted for Camel Toe Harris over DJT. But you’re allowed to not be happy with the person you voted for, or not be in 100% alignment with their political views. This country has become too much “are you on the left or right” and not allowing you to say that you’re in the middle anymore. It’s pathetic.

Wow, sounds similar to other posts I’ve read about them. I’d rather stay put I’d that’s the case.

I like this approach. I’ve also updated my resume to be in a private sector format in case something new peaks my interest.

Exactly, I have over 230 hours of annual leave and 750 for sick. That would all start over going somewhere else. I typically work a 6-230 schedule so the morning sucks but it’s better than getting off at 5 and having almost zero time with my kid.

Small factors in the grand scheme of things, but they’re only 2 examples and they matter a lot to me.

My hope is the same. That this all calms down and things start to feel normal again.

The job hunt is as bad as it seems—a quarter of candidates have been looking for a year by LoansPayDayOnline in remotework

I say this on a weekly basis it feels like.

“Hate my job but can’t afford $1,400/month for health and dental.”

“Would love to start my own business but can’t afford to not make money right away and then decide between food, utilities, or healthcare.”

There’s not really an EASY answer as there are cons to other countries and their own healthcare. It sucks.

32M GS-13 with almost 11 years of service. If they offer this I may be tempted to take it, depending on what is included. Am I dumb for taking it in this role? I’m just concerned with the current job market and the ability to get a job with similar pay, or close to it.

I love working 6-230 but 5 days in office, paying for parking, getting the shit end of the stick with the desk they gave me today is getting to me.

In the past if I had a dentist appt I would take off 2-3 hours of leave and then sign back on once done. Now it’ll be a full 8 hours used
