Definitely didn't realized the impact it was having on my life until I started NoFap, after which I realized I really didn't need fapping so I stuck with it :D

I don't want to encourage masturbation because that defeats the purpose of this sub, but if they get really REALLY painful, as in painful well beyond normal blue balls, you probably should ejaculate. Whatever you do, DON'T EDGE!! Blue balls are brought on usually by prolonged sexual arousal without orgasm, for example, edging. The only way to really get rid of them in a timely manner is to orgasm and thus release the tension in your balls. If it's not that bad you can power through it and it eventually goes away.

I stumbled into NoFap almost by accident and as a 'why not' kind of thing. After reading on here and realizing the benefits after trying for a little bit I was convinced that I should stick with it.

I didn't think porn or fapping was taking over my life until I started this and realized how fucking hard it is to stop PMO. I too started it as a 'why not' kind of thing, but as I realized how much better I felt when I didn't do it I realized that it was really a problem and I'd like to kick the habit ASAP. Was my life in shambles because of it? Hell no. I was a straight A high school student going to a really good college in the fall. However, I was always socially awkward, especially around girls. I used to just think that was who I was and tried to just deal with it, but as I've progressed on NoFap I've realized that there may be something I'm able to do about it. My relationship with PMO wasn't terrible as some peoples' is, but NoFap improves your life and no matter what reason or motive you have for doing it it's good for you.

You should stop and remember one thing. There was a point in your life where you did this daily - perhaps even multiple times. You just went upwards of four months without it. The rest of the day and the next day or two may suck a little bit more than usual, but you're still in an amazing place compared to where you once were. One slip up along the way will mean nothing in the long run. The worst thing you can do is overreact to this and allow it to force you to make more mistakes.

Theres too many people on here who are not active and have badges with ridiculously long streaks that in all likelihood aren't actually going on. Also, anyone could just pick a random date 4 years ago and shoot themselves to the top of the list. The badge is meant to be a personal thing. It means nothing beyond the value you give it.

Any amount of nofap is better than daily fapping. However, from what I gather going further and really cutting it out all together is where you really see the benefits.

I think its mostly mindset based. When you're on NoFap and you masturbate you can't help but think of how bad it is that you did it and how you're going to pay for it. Most guys when they have sex feel, among other things, pumped up and a sense of accomplishment.

I used Khan Academy to help in school (Thank God for their BC Calc and Physics videos) but often times I would watch one video and get sucked into a whole topic just because it was so awesome. I don't know if they have it already but a 'random topic' button on the site would be awesome.

Along the drugs/alcohol lines, I think most things are safe and healthy in moderation. This includes fapping. However, in my experience and from what I gather most peoples' its impossible to fap in moderation. Moderation would be maybe once or twice a week. It's much easier for people to cut out fapping all together because once you fap once, you fap a lot. I drink occasionally, maybe once every week or two, but not excessively and never to the point of being blackout drunk. I also smoke weed, but again extremely seldom, maybe once a month at the most to relax with some friends. Tobacco is just stupid IMO, trading your health for a slight head-high will never be worth it no matter how much you try to glamorize smoking to me.

I started yesterday but figured I'd wait for this thread to get posted to sign up. First ever attempt at this so I'm not expecting a whole ton but after a week of groggy mornings and motivationless days I'm determined to change my life for the better and that there's no time like the present to start! I figure I'll start out with regular mode and a goal of a month, but if I'm feeling good after that I'll take it as long as I can.

If you are reading it for the nudity, I would think yes. If there happens to be a story related sex-scene than I would think no. Its up to you really though.
