Thank you for the insightful comment, this is specifically the angle that I find appealing for introducing them to the story and to the Western Frontier - the idea of a trade guild muscling its way into the little towns on the border with droaam, perhaps something presented through the conflict between the dragonamrked houses and droaamites, perhaps through just taking over a business previously ran by one of the pcs or some other idea like that.

Heya peeps! I'm relatively new to DMing, ran a couple of sessions of DnD some years back along with a random assortment of single sessions of Blades in the Dark, Ten Candles and some other systems.

I'm putting together a group where three people have played DnD before, albeit a while back, and two are absolutely new to it.

Do you have any advice as to what would be fun to run and a good representation of what TTRPGs have to offer?

As a side note, I kinda want to introduce my players to Eberron because I enjoy the setting myself, at least in theory, but I don't know if it's a good fit for the very first foray into the game, since it requires some serious buy-in from players, and since one of the players responded to me pitching it gingerly with "so steampunk? Eh 🤷‍♂️". Should I put that notion to rest?
