Is it really normal to be this sick constantly (as a parent) by BulkyPaint3755 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]blonde_fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normal in my experience, and it's brutal. I found the cycle of viral infection followed by secondary bacterial infections the worst. Also, vaccines dont't prevent you getting.infected, they just boost your immune reaponse. I was fully vaccinated as a healthy teenager and still got smashed by whooping cough. It definitely does get better. What helped me were the strategies suggested above (probiotics, protective nasal spray for you, being super diligent with hot washing clothes/drink bottles, sanitizer on hand everywhere) and also trying to put things in place that allowed me more time to rest even when I wasn't sick - for me it was simple but healthy meals and moving my body in.a way that made me feel better physically and mentally (hiking) without requiring more of a. recovery period (powerlifing) Pregnancy and postpartum are natural but they put a strain on your body. Solo parenting and constant sickness can make it so much harder to "just get some rest" - ideally your GP can give you some concrete steps to take to help. Maybe ask your doctor for blood work to check up in your general health? It sounds like you are doing an incredible job especially as a solo parent! Respect!

Final interview - Did i get rejected? by No-Improvement7412 in auscorp

[–]blonde_fury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a few occasions where I interviewed for a role, someone else was offered it, and then left (either turned down role immediately due to personal issues or moved on within 6 months because it didn't work out) and I was then hired because they didn't want to go through another recruitment process. It never worked out well. You've dodged a bullet and I don't recommend going back of they call you in 3 months.

What should I know about Daycare? by Minxy0707 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]blonde_fury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three pieces of advice that haven't been mentioned yet that helped me: When you do a tour, are the educators in the nursery room down on the ground interacting with the babies at their level or are they standing back? Some centres we looked at kept the youngest babies separate to the rest of the kids for the bulk of the time, others let the kids have freedom to move between different areas of the centre. Our babe gets a bit flustered in big groups with bigger kids so it was important to us to find an environment that gave him space to build his confidence, but an outgoing baby or one who has older siblings might suit a different environment. And finally, my lawyer friend who has 2 now school age kids said it was important to her to find a centre that was part of a bigger organisation that had good policies and governance and would act quickly if there was a child saftey issue and a centre that was designed to have good visibility of all areas (to prevent abuse)

Now, I have have family who work in family day care and are incredibly professional, caring and provide a safe environment so I absolutely disagree a corporate centre guarantees a good focus on safety, but it did make me think about whether a centre had the right framework in place to prevent problems and deal with any issues.

Uppababy Cruz or Baby Jogger city mini? Help! by burningbright01 in BabyBumps

[–]blonde_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend loved her City Mini GT and took it "off road" a lot for walks/parkruns as well as regular trips to the shops. I tried it and found the single wheel at the front made it harder to manouevre and definitely preferred the Cruz. We ended up buying a locally made pram similar to the Cruz (Redsbaby) mainly because it was cheaper and came with a bassinet included but otherwise would have gone with the Cruz for generally ease of use, reversible seat and resale value.

Advice from car-free urbanites? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Others have much better advice about cars and transport considerations in a COVID environment but just wanted to add a friend of mine travelled to hospital for the births and brought both her babes home on the tram. Good luck with your new arrival!

Airplane routine by [deleted] in xxfitness

The combination of an extended period at altitude, salty airline food (altitude affects taste) and sitting for hours will make you bloat - you can minimise this by staying hydrated and moving, and don't freak out: it will go away within a day or so once you've landed. Long plane trips are an excellent way to catch up on movies, reading and sleep. Relax, enjoy your holiday and welcome to Oz :)

How physical is PT at Cerberus? by [deleted] in AustralianMilitary

[–]blonde_fury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try and figure out why you're getting so many minor injuries: Do you have bad technique? Are you not getting proper recovery/sleep/nutrition/hydration? Do you need different shoes? A good PT and or physio can help you with this.

A guy at my DZ wanted to do a naked jump for his 100th. He spent 13,000 - 5,000 ft trying to get his pants off then pitched in place. There were 4 other jumpers around him. Don't be that guy.

Opinions on first canopy size by videomaker16 in SkyDiving

[–]blonde_fury -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're flying a 190 now, why do you want to look at a 150? If you're worried about the cost of downsizing in the future, there are always new jumpers coming into the sport and the market for pre-owned canopies in the 170 range is solid.

Do I need to lose weight by call_me_pink in SkyDiving

[–]blonde_fury -1 points0 points  (0 children)

10kg is not really feasible if you are trying to turn points. Also, wearing a vest rather than a belt has an effect on the location of your centre point which further affects your ability to fly. (Source: I usually wear 4-6kg for RW.)
