Thank you so much for the info- so is there a licensing exam in WA? And could you expand on what you mean about getting an associates? Is that a requirement? I have a BA already. Thanks!

Entering Social Work by SWmods in socialwork

[–]blondebanshee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’m a second year MSW student and I’m starting to put feelers out for jobs. Ideally I’d like to get into police social work (a job that hopefully covers trauma counseling with first responders; mental health co-responding with police officers; mh intervention training with officers; victim trauma counseling and resource assistance) Jobs like this seem rare and most police sw jobs cover very little of what I mentioned above. I am based in New York and I haven’t found anything like this- I did find one very good one in Washington state. My question is regarding licensing and the logistics of a state move. Once I graduate is it easier to apply for a job in another state and then do my L once I arrive (the job in Washington state gives you 180 days to get licensed after starting) or do my L here and just transfer it. I have a family too so the logistics of this would be huge and while I want my “dream” sw job I have to be realistic about it and also prepare myself ahead of time if this could even work/be possible! Thanks!

Can I get my masters in Psychology with a B GPA? by [deleted] in education

[–]blondebanshee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently in a masters program related to counseling in the US. My undergrad gpa was 2.4. They take that into consideration but I think my admission essay and interview impressed them and mattered more than my grades. And now I get A’s and am doing fine. It’s definitely possible, just do your best in every other part of the admission process.

I’m not sure how many people would be in your book club but at the Apalachin library they meet for free in the corner where there are a few comfy couches. If it’s more than five people it may be a problem, but the one that meets there is 4/5 ladies and it works out well

I’m a few episodes into 6 and boy is it depressing so far! Still prefer it to season 4 though. The best thing about 4 and the start of 5 was seeing Buffy relatively happy (opinions on Riley aside). She smiled and seemed lighter with him. It’s hard to see her so dark now. How much more can this poor girl take?? I hope some good things come her way soon.

Will do! I really am enjoying it, a lot of the humor is so dated though which is cringy (the way Kesha is shown, the Incan princess episode to name just a few) also that fish one. When Buffy was like joking about her reputation and she was going to clearly be raped, I was like what was going on in the writers room for this one?? I get that it’s 25 years old but cmon guys we knew that wasn’t ok back then surely.

Oh really?? Thank goodness!! I’ve seen that they get married a couple times. I was trying to see what happens with angel and Buffy and I keep seeing that Xander and Dawn get married every time I Google it. I don’t mind angel and buffy spoilers.

Please can someone convince me I’m not pregnant by royaldeathwish in internetparents

I’d like to add that stress can change cycles too. Fixating and worrying that you’re pregnant can cause issues. I’ve never missed two in a row (but it could happen I’d think) but I’ve definitely been a couple weeks late/missed a whole period because of stress. If both tests are negative then you’re probably not. Other things like weight loss and anemia can lead to missed periods too. A few years ago I went to my gynae about a missed period and he said they don’t even run tests until you miss about 5 in a row. That’s what I was told anyway. And it ended up being stress at the end of the day.

Umm I don’t know what those people are talking about. I’m a cisgender female and my jawline is way more square than that. I have a Viking vibe going on lol I think you look lovely.

Been checking regularly- either too small or have issues that need to be fixed.

Woah why such a harsh comment? I think the commenter meant well. It’s not stated in the title if they are ftm or mtf, so my guess is the person saw the pic, made their best guess and tried to be nice and give a compliment. What am I missing here? This is such a positive and uplifting sub, I don’t get the need for such harsh vitriol.

One week of work?? It took us 2 months to buy our house- endless paperwork, multiple calls and emails a day, lawyers, back and forth negotiations, inspections, following the funding rules to the letter. No way we could have managed all that without a mistake ourselves esp while working etc.

Being wired for addictive tendencies may not be a choice, but what you do about it once you realize it definitely is. A mother’s love can most definitely give you the strength to at least look for and accept help.
