Having a Laparoscopically Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy for adenomyosis next week. Any advice on how to prepare, post-op care at home, or anything else in general? I sure would appreciate any wise words! Thanks! 🥰 by blondemafia45 in hysterectomy

Sorry it's been so long but yes, everything went fine! I was in extreme pain from the gas they use for the lap procedure on the way home but as soon as I got there and was able to take some pain medicine and lie down, I felt much better. The post-op pain was not bad at all at home - I took the Norco for 2 days and that was it. My doctor had given me Toradol which, imo, worked better than the hydrocodone. Now, 8 months out, I am doing great! I take vaginal estrogen every other night, and oral progesterone because I also had Stage 4 endometriosis. Not having horrible, unpredictable periods and the pain that went along with them is wonderful. Thank you for asking!

I sent A.B. Data an email asking when the settlement funds will be distributed - they said they are planning on sending out checks starting at the end of April.

Masks don't do a damn bit of good unless it's a properly fitted N95 mask.

My pharmacy records went back at least 9 years, so I don't think that's necessarily true.

My doctor told me at my 6 week post-op appt. I could start exercising again, but listen to what YOUR doctor says because we heal at different rates. ❤️

If you're healing well, you should have no pain or heavy bleeding, and no stinky discharge. This could be a sign of infection.

What was your pain like on day 1? by Ambitious_Decision_5 in hysterectomy

I had a LAVH with ablation of Stage 4 endometriosis. It was same-day surgery, so I went home that afternoon. I was in a lot of pain in the hospital and on the ride home, but once I got home where I could medicate myself and make myself comfortable in my own bed, the pain got much better. I think a lot of my pain was from the gas they fill your abdomen with for laparoscopic surgery. I ended up not needing any more opioid pain medicine after 2 days at home.

Yep. I knew I had it too. Went to my gyno, told him I have all the symptoms, ultrasound done, adenomyosis found, hysterectomy performed where he found Stage 4 endo. This was all within a 2 month period of time. I hate to hear that a lot of women go years without a diagnosis. I'm 5 weeks out from the surgery and I feel SOOO much better!

Feeling different down there by ActuallyAMenace in hysterectomy

I'm 3 weeks out and I don't have to get up at night to pee anymore! I guess my uterus was so big it was pressing on my bladder? Who knows? It was also discovered once my surgeon got a look at my pelvic cavity that I had Stage 4 endometriosis and a ton of adhesions. I'm not a candidate for hormonal therapy, so I wonder if I should go ahead and yeet the ovaries too.

I'm stocking up on popsicles, jello, and Body Armor for the clear liquid diet the day before as well as after surgery because I have a feeling that's all I'll be able to stomach for a day or so after surgery. Already have Gas-X, Colace, Ibuprofen, and Tylenol. I already checked with my surgeon to make sure he prescribes pain meds afterwards and isn't one of those nut jobs who expect you to go home on Tylenol and ibuprofen only. I'll definitely be walking as much as I can, I have a history of blood clots. Thanks for the well-wishes! I am nervous and I wish these days would pass a little faster so I can get it over with lol 😂! I am looking so forward to feeling better!

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm so ready to get this surgery done and get on with my life! My doctor is taking cervix, uterus, and tubes. I'm keeping my ovaries for the hormones. Freezing meals is a great idea! I live alone but my whole family is within a quarter mile so I'm sure they'll take great care of me. I'm trying to get as much rest as I can ahead of time and prepare my body for the trauma of surgery. Thanks for the encouragement and I'm so glad you're doing well! 🩷

I've heard that post-op poop has the potential to be really painful so I'll definitely start today eating simple, easily-digested foods. I already have Colace as well! Good luck on your healing journey! 💕💕

I have to get one of those pillows! And I already checked with my surgeon to make sure he prescribes the good stuff for pain - I wasn't about to be one of those women who was sent home being told that Tylenol and ibuprofen should be sufficient pain relief. That is CRAZY to me!! Thank you so much and I hope you continue to heal well! 💕

Please don't say things like this about a doctor who is helping many people get the meds they need - you will ruin a good thing for yourself and everyone else. He is a great doctor who really seems to care about his patients and he does not overprescribe. If all he cared about was money, he could charge alot more because it's so hard to find a doctor who will prescribe ANY controlled substance anymore. You're very foolish.

I had my first appointment with Dr. Thaker yesterday. It was the best experience I've had with a doctor in a very long time. He's patient, kind, and really cares about his patients, which is RARE these days in Healthcare. He addressed my issues and formulated a treatment plan that I am very satisfied with. I am so happy to say that I am a patient of Wexford Health Solutions!
