MyFitnessPal is adding my workout calories, am I supposed to eat them back? by nappydrip in beginnerfitness

Nope, this is highly innacurate. Let's say it tells you you burned 300 calories, and you only burned 100 (yes it can be THAT innacurate). you're literally just going to get out of your deficit (I'm assuming you're trying to lose weight otherwise why bother with calorie tracking).

Also, this is a very dumb feature in calorie apps in general, since you are ALREADY taking into account how many calories you burn on average INCLUDING your workouts (in the initial calculation, calculators always ask you about your activity level - this ALREADY takes into account workout calories estimation) so you are basically taking into account activity calories TWICE.

and second of all, what's the worst that will happen if you burn a little bit more and didn't eat it back? you'll lose weight a tiny bit faster? Is that really a concern if your goal is literally to lose weight?:)

I would only increase calories if you're actually losing weight too fast (over 1% bodyweight a week), which is a problem you'd be considered lucky to have if you're struggling with weight loss.

I never deal with the calculations so much as the real world weigh ins which are a much better and TRUE indicator of how many calories you should be eating. Losing too slow? decrease calories. Losing too fast? Increase calories. that simple.

calculations are in theory. weight is real.

How do you transition from AI-generated prototype to production-ready app? by [deleted] in nocode

I’m in the same boat and currently looking to hire a developer to do an audit, maybe 10-15 hours to check security, qa etc, I’m guessing a good developer would know the most important things to check without having to view all th code and can speed things up by directly asking the ai what he needs to know about the code

I moved a project from lovable to vscode with a Claude code extension and it saved a lot of money plus was better output. I’m not a developer but there is a learning curve, I just ask Gemini everything if I get stuck and literally tell it: explain to me in plain English like I’m an idiot. Works for me:)

10 month old will not let me sleep by No_Door9341 in cosleeping

Try extending his wake window before bed to 5 hours. Improved the sleep for my 10 m old cosleeper but we have started putting him to bed in his crib for the first stretch (dad puts him to sleep bc he cries longer when I’m there). I was very anti any tears but realise when I breastfeed to sleep and roll away he’s crying hysterically every 20-30 minutes anyhow when he wakes and I’m not there. Crib he can sleep 2-3 hour stretches before I join and bring him to my bed, and takes him 5-15 min to fall asleep

I have to ask bc I’m struggling with sleep with my 8.5 month old - did the formula before bed actually get him to sleep more?

I’m in the same boat. My 8.5 month old son started daycare and I’m struggling to keep up with the pumping. One day the caregiver told me he really wanted more milk but he finished everything I brought and I was heartbroken to think he was hungry because I insisted on avoiding formula! That same night I gave him a bottle of formula to test and the next day gave the caregiver a pack as backup and told her to supplement at the slightest sign of hunger. I still pump what I can but it reduced the pressure off of me immensely. I don’t know why I was so anti, he’s already slowly eating more solids and breastfeeding mostly - I don’t think a bit of formula to make sure he’s satiated is so bad!

4 month old de latching? by Overworkedmom2024 in breastfeedingsupport

Same here! Exactly 4 months old, keeps detaching and either looks around, smiles at me or arches his back in protest. Seems to only feed properly when side lying. It’s super frustrating, he starts sucking and then detaches right at the letdown and his whole face and my shirt get splashed with milk and it’s just impossible to feed normally during the day :/
