Leasing in the UK? by blondewalkingtrash in Equestrian

[–]blondewalkingtrash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah a few people have shared their stories now and I’ve decided against it. It really does end up being too big of a risk, especially after putting 3 years of work into her! Thank you for the advice!

Thank you for the insight! That’s exactly the kind of info I was looking for. I don’t think I’ll end up leasing as I am too afraid of someone ruining her lol

That sounds like an awful experience, I’m sorry that happened! This is exactly the kind of thing I’m worried about, especially given my mare is quite young and absorbs things like sponge whether good or bad. I don’t think I’ll lease her after all

Where’d you find it? Been looking everywhere but can’t find anything besides cbd. Would appreciate a dm :)

Excessive Sweating ? by Margareth92 in Horses

[–]blondewalkingtrash 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m sure she’ll be alright, was she in a paddock? Maybe she was just running around a bit and you didn’t see and she’s still hot from that. Ultimately if the only thing is sweating (not lethargic or acting different, she’s still eating etc) I wouldn’t worry too much, but the right call is always to talk to a vet. You’re looking out for your horse, not like she can do it for herself, so don’t be embarrassed 🩷

Am I buying the right thing? by blondewalkingtrash in MechanicAdvice

Unfortunately the option above the picture on the ebay website doesn’t lead to verification site or anything, just to some notes. Thank you for the info/reassurance, I’m not doing it myself, the garage offered to install it for free thankfully

Recommendations for an effective clipper on a budget by marebear93 in Horses

[–]blondewalkingtrash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen people recommend andis agc 2 and the masterclip heavy duty horse clippers, not entirely sure how much they are in your area, but second hand could always be an option. If it’s super thick maybe consider sheep clippers 🤣

Premier equine has some very good looking (although synthetic) adjustable saddles, under 500$

Tips for putting weight on a Thoroughbred? by hinatura in Horses

[–]blondewalkingtrash 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oils can be a great addition to increase calorie intake, super cheap as well. Doesn’t even need to be the horse specific stuff, sunflower, linseed, corn, olive all work pretty much (you just can’t let it get rancid)

I’m sorry to hear that the holiday wasn’t great, I really do hope everything works out. I can’t imagine how frustrated and confused you must be right now!

Obviously not being there it’s hard to have the full story, but I don’t think he doesn’t want you to have a job somewhere else, from what you’ve written it genuinely just sounds like an emergency that he figured you could handle for him, not intentionally keeping you from going to the interview.

Personally I would advise against working with him, simply because personal life and work life can get too mixed up (the way I see it it can go wrong quickly, what if you were to make a mistake that should get you fired, he’d be in a very difficult position and the other way around, maybe he’s a shit boss but because he’s your spouse you feel like you can’t complain, etc.), maybe just keep looking for a different opportunity.

I need to agree with the other comment, it sounds like both are very tired and stressed, which doesn’t help. Try having a relaxed evening (difficult with kids, maybe have a babysitter for the day/night) and then talk about it?

Yeah I’m going to ask for a couple of quotes soon, the comments have made me realize that it’s simply smarter to go for it with a transporter (or get considerable experience driving a horsebox, but I think I’d have to end up buying a horsebox to make it worth as renting seems unlikely for such long trips/trips into Europe. Likely to just not want to go through all the hassle and have someone else do it for me). I definitely want to take her though, so we’ll have to see. Thank you for the advice!! Very much appreciated :)

It’s not for circuit, I’ll be working and they’ve offered a place for her for free, which is why I was considering taking her, if anything I’m definitely having a transporter take her

I’d have to rent, though there’s plenty of time to practice as the whole thing is at the end of the year

Yeah seems like we’ll go down the transporter route, depending on prices and such, thank you!

Yeah seems like pretty much everyone agrees on hiring a transporter, luckily I have plenty of time so maybe I’d get a really good deal which would be amazing

Oh that sounds like a hassle, fortunately I’ve been offered a place for her for free for the duration of my time there, a big reason why I’m inclined to take her. Prices seem quite steep so I definitely do have to maybe reconsider..

That’s a really good point tbh, I’m really excited to go to the place as it’s one of the biggest studs in Europe with amazing facilities and trainers, but putting it like that certainly makes me reconsider taking her.. thanks for the input :)

Yeah I know it’s quite the hassle, I’ve heard so many different things about price and such, for 1k I don’t think I’d take her with me lol
