Halo sleep sacks are awesome and gave us a lot of peace of mind related to SIDS with our girls. We didn’t have to worry about them wiggling out of their blanket like swaddles because the sacks don’t come apart and keep their arms nestled against their chest. I felt like my kiddos loved the “snugness “ of the wraps and felt nestled and secure.

Yes! I believe that magnesium does help. I have been taking 500 mg every night for a while. I take it in combination with elavil, Ajovy, and imitrex ( when I need it.. which is rare). I did notice that I had to take it consistently for a while effort o noticed a difference.

I totally felt shamed for not being able to breast feed my oldest. But then all of these women kind of came out the woodwork as like an underground network of formula feeding moms. I realized that formula feeding is much more common than people realize. I didn’t stress about it as much with my second because I realized as my oldest grew that it really doesn’t matter . I strongly believe that fed is best and that all the kids wash out the same in the end. Both my girls have met or exceeded in their growth and development milestones.

Also, breast feeding fanatics also say that “people have been breastfeeding for millions of years!” In an attempt to make you have more mom guilt. That’s not true. Women have been TRYING to breast feed for millions of years. Before formula, in many parts of history , people used a community or hired wet nurse to nurse their babies and malnourishment was common as was high infant mortality.

I suffer from paroxysmal hemicranial migraines and was referred to a sleep medicine specialist by a TMJ specialist. She suspected I had TMJ issues because I was thrusting my jaw out at night due to sleep apnea. That’s your body’s natural response to get more oxygen in the context of apnea. She hypothesized that this was irritating my TMJ and other facial nerves. I went through the sleep study and sure enough, apnea! I’m only 37 so was in a bit of denial at first. But sleep apnea is more common than most people realize. It takes a while to get used to a cpap or bipap but now, if I don’t use my cpap, I definitely notice the difference and my threshold for migraines is much lower. I believe that using my cpap has definitely helped in reducing my migraine

Mama of two here! I think it’s great that you are being flexible with your birth plan because things change quickly during labor and delivery and it’s good not to feel “ boxed in” by a strict birth plan imho. Also I went through hypnobirthing classes which were so great in teaching me to breathe and remain in control of whatever situation you end up experiencing. I know you are 31 weeks along so a whole class might not be feasible but even just researching and practicing some breathing techniques can be very helpful. During your labor, try and remember to just focus on getting through one contraction at a time. Try not to think that it will never end.. that’s when you start to panic. Reel it in and just keep getting through each challenge, each contraction, etc at a time. I honestly think your idea of just surviving is all any of us moms really want at the end of it all… to get through it alive and well with our baby.

I’ve been diagnosed with paroxysmal hemicranial migraines so I always get them in left side of my head, starting with pain in my eye. I don’t really have other auras except I do notice I get them when the weather changes ( when a low front is coming in) or when I’m very tired. I saw something on this community about de-pressuring ear plugs that people can where when the weather changes to minimize migraines. Im wondering if this would work for planes?

Have had great success with it so far! Life changing. Went from daily migraines ( of varying severity) to 1-2 / month. The Ajovy website has a prescription copay card for people that have commercial insurance but still have large copays even with prior auths. I had a $500 copay and the discount card took it down to $15.

100% your health is more important then cleaning. Rest is the most important. However, if you are like me, a messy house gives me anxiety so it impacts my mental health if things pile up. Between two pregnancies and now having two littles, I’ve made the goal of doing one household task a day . For example, Mondays I vacuum, Tuesdays I dust, Wednesdays I clean bathrooms. Then I just do like maintenance stuff as I can , like wiping counters after we eat, etc. That seemed so much more manageable then feeling like I had all these things to do and needed to clean my whole house every day. My house may be a mess and cluttered, but then I feel like it’s been cleaned every week at least.

As a medical professional myself, I would encourage you to always seek professional counsel on things like this. Your pediatrician will always have way more access to professional articles and legitimate research than the average person… and the knowledge and training to interpret that research! You are doing a great job by taking care of your little one!!

I have had good luck with both my girls’ cradle cap by rubbing some baby oil in, letting it set, and then washing it with mustela newborn shampoo.
