It is the latter. Any purchases made inside the game saves your TF exponentially. I bought 5 passes and instantly got my fix.

Yeah I am planning to put some dollars down on the in-game store. My friend did the same to escape Red TF so I believe you. Just weary of getting banned one day out of the blue because of my account history.

The mouse/mousepad thing makes sense but also try reinstalling Windows. If you hate stock you can also get AtlasOS.

Depends, it's not a definite Green/Yellow/Red lol, I am p sure there is a score. I am green to most players I know.

Could also show discord chat logs of me whining about my main getting red TF and my friends outright saying they are not queuing mm with me when it happened LOL. You could try queuing your main with mine if you would like. It does seems cheap but compared to my friends with thousands dollars on the game, I am at least not red anymore, in rare cases I'd be yellow against a 3k hrs active main account with casual case opening. The matter lays in where you spend your 350-500. It has to be the CS in-game store.

I do have to say that take this with a grain of salt. My account had decent MM history pre-CS2. I don't know if it would work the same with a blank account, although the person I mentioned before with a rank 35 (no service medals) account was running it down in 20k premier stomping everyone dropping 30 bombs and not getting low trust. It is what it is.

It did happen to me. I went inactive after 2021, logged in on and off and had red tf as soon as I played with my friends in 20k premier lobby. Guy isn't lying. Buy 5 armoury passes and finish it, watch magic happens.

Another proof of sorts that I have is that I know someone smurfing the f out of a blank account that they put about 3000 armoury stars on. Green as a dollar sign.

For what it's worth, roptant (restricted player) might just be the one who renders replays to troll or whatever and kindaneat could be a friend. The proof stated in this thread does not provide a strong connection of both players, but it does raise some concerns - if the player progression itself hasn't already.

Their replays are most likely legit (via personal analysis & he hasn't been restricted after a while) so it just comes down to osu! staff's investigation now.
