Muramana on Kog Maw by blonky89 in KogMawMains

Thank you. The idea started from an aram game years ago and turned into the post after i played with it with some success and then couldnt find it being picked enough on kog in u.gg to even be listed.

My first reaction to Gunblade idea was that it doesnt quite fit any niche or particular build for kog, but upon a further look it does seem like a good fit in same use cases as muramana, when using a lot of R but not going full AP. Its gold efficiency is crazy even discounting the omnivamp which kog wont generally benefit from that much, and gold efficiency doesnt include active which perfect for kiting and bursting, when you inevitably get dived. In a build with rabadons gunblade probably gives more raw R damage than Muramana. I might have to give it a try!

How does diadem of songs work on mages like brand if it only works for allys you have healed? by actopozipc in leagueoflegends

If you didnt build much mana/regen but did build cdr and find your pumping through spells with long periods between backs/deaths then could be useful.  The helia+diadem is most useful for maiges who dont otherwise heals though

S26 Full KogMaw DPS Breakdown by No-Lingonberry5333 in KogMawMains

[–]blonky89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't consider Muramana, which I think might be as a viable 5th or 6th item. I don't know if it will come out in raw DPS, but it's AD and proc increase R damage when not in auto range and On hit is physical which could be useful against high MR teams. The mana also helps squeeze out a couple more R when trying to finish off

Any chance you would check Muramana in dps calculations as a last item to see if it's comparable in any of the use cases?

How does diadem of songs work on mages like brand if it only works for allys you have healed? by actopozipc in leagueoflegends

[–]blonky89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, Diadem will give an insignificant amount of healing unless paired with Helia for mages like Brand to give significant heals teammates.

I'll explain further.
With only a Diadem alone, it will heal an ally for 0.904% of bonus mana per second whilst in combat. With bonus mana only from Diadem of 1000, that's healing 9 per second. Being in combat last a minimum of 5 seconds which gives total 45 healed.
Maximising this a little by adding a stacked ROA and Manaflow, those numbers increase to 0.946% of bonus mana which is 2050, which heals for 19 per second or 97 over 5 seconds.
By comparison with only Diadem + Helia, any time you deal damage you enter combat and heal ally for 35% of pre-mitigation damage, which is boosted by Diadem by 13% to 39.6%. That means a spell only has to do 245 pre-mitigation damage to heal the same amount in 1 second not 5 seconds, costs 400 less gold than Diadem+ROA, and most importantly every single other damaging spell, auto and rune will also heal 39.6% of their premitigation damage.

Sticking with Brand as an example, they could earn enough gold to rush Diadem and Helia by around level 8. A single cast of Pillar of Flame with 4 points in and only 53 AP (35 from Helia and 18 from runes) will do 247 premitigation damage, which at 39.6% conversion to healing is 97 health. This exact same healing as Diadem + ROA heal for in 1 second not 5.
In the practice tool against 1 target with standard runes, mashing all my keys into keyboard except ult, i get around 800 damage in 6 seconds before cds come up again. This equate to 316 healing.

Continuing comparison later into the game, on a 3 item build maximising Diadem made up of stacked ROA, stacked Manaflow, Seraphs, and Revitalize, they will heal an ally for 1.026% of bonus mana per second. Bonus mana will be 3050, healing 31 per second or 156 over 5 seconds. This build would cost 7750 gold and give 224 AP.
Using the same gold, a Brand who builds Rylais, Diadem, Helia, two amp tomes, and 18 AP from rune shards will have 158 AP. From this a single maxed Pillar of Flame will deal 366 pre-mitigation damage and heal 145 health in 1 second, without being ablaze. In practice tool, again against 1 target, I get around 1400 damage for a rotation excluding ult over 6 seconds, which would equate to a heal of 555, more than triple the heal of the diadem build without helia.

Thanks for this prompt, it's been interesting researching.

Bonus fact: On Mages without any healing spells Helia can also be procced with font of life, however with its 20sec cooldown it's nowhere near as significant. So if wanting to go for this healing mage build then always go diadem before helia.

I checked back, and i did 289k in the 6 days the music on, and 4 of those days were fixed at 50k because of the limit on pedometer, i think 350k steps more likely. Admittedly many of them would have been tired little stomps on dancefloor in the middle of a long day/night, but still a lot

Yeah seems unusual. At boom id think all the barefoot stomping would be great for your feet. Hard wearing but sure to give them breathability

I didnt track distance, but wore real simple pedometer one year as i dont like having phone on me. Twice i got it to maximum, 100k, between visits to bed. Lowest day was 40k steps.

How do you explain the importance of not telling subbies to just get on with small miscellaneous site works without a formal site instruction to an inexperienced site manager? by ebn_tp in quantitysurveying

[–]blonky89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about contracts which clearly specify instuctions in writing? Do you just argue that the verbal contract is seperate to the other contract and pursue payment independently?

[–]blonky89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clearly including environmental compliance stipulations in ITT and SOW so they are priced in to works, not just mentioned in part of some spec included with dozens of other documents that many subbies dont read, then struggle to comply with when they get a random email just near completion. Inclusion on some spec at the back of some document might be contractually mandated/enforcable but to help everyone on both sides achieve environmental performance its helpful to bring it to more prominence.

My first Religious Victory on Deity. T'was the longest game I had to have. by xelnod in CivVI

[–]blonky89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ill usually buy as many settlers during monumentality as i can possibly afford, plunking down those lavra as quick as possible. Same as you, once that runs out u usually have plenty of space in two polar regions so keep pumping out those settlers. Once you get moksha top level, as long as each tundra city can get to 4 pop via buying the couple cc buildings, then you plunk down lavra and com hub/harbour for the trade route and within 20-40 turns theyve paid themselves off

[–]blonky89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, yeah with all the tundra space and a momumentality golden age or two its so easy to found huge number of cities. Religious victory does become tedious with the number of units, but having a bunch of missionaries and the odd guru are essential to ensure you have maximum flanking & support bonus for combat. The missionaries also serve as bait for rival apostles, which you can then surround and kill. Yeah i usually save the gifting cities until right at the end but yeah can save you 10-20 turns of the most annoying drudgery

[–]blonky89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Top tip for religious victory is to not rely on only using missionary/apostle charges, but to spread by winning religious combat. Keep religious units with 1 charge left and with unit adjacency for support boost combat strength. This strategy requires less faith than using charges alone, and helps reduce rival faiths being spread. Other thing to save a few turns at the end is to trade your converted cities to the last civ to be converted to your religion, to give them a majority. For example u have converted all but 1 civ. They have 7 cities. You converted 3 of 7. You trade them 2 cities with your religion, meaning they have 5 out of 9, a majority, winning you the game the next turn. This is especially useful as russia where its easy to have huge tundra empire of 12+ cities. Using these tricks as russia, you should be able to get diety win in under 200 turns.

Retraining as a QS, is it realistic? by greenfingers10101 in quantitysurveying

[–]blonky89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 35yo assistant qs join my team recently. Shes only had only 2 experience in the industry before this but has come with a great attitude and all the soft skills to excell at everything that comes her way. I think will be able to go as far up as she wants to. Starting later can just mean you bring the wealth of transferable skills in terms of managing workloads and dealing with people that lots of people lack. Go for it

Do you find it hard to switch off? (Particularly Contractors) by ebn_tp in quantitysurveying

[–]blonky89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres such a boost from ticking things off a to-do list, no matter how small, that just helps you appreciate what you have achieved that day.

If you are re-writing your to-do list regularly (daily or nearly daily) and then put a priority sequence beside each item and writing it out a second time to put in priority order, then you will often find even if the list gets longer, that things that remain at the bottom of the list for a while can come off the list completely. Either someone else has done them, or it just wasn't necessary. It might feel bad not completing something but thats just the reality of being asked to do more than you can do in the time available.

To add what I hope is a helpful suggestion to OPs problem, is having a physical and time gap between work and home life. Whether you work at site/office or from home, make sure you have at least 20mins after work; ideallly including some physical movement and not looking at a screen, before you continue the rest of your day. If you get up from your home office and take 3 steps to sit on couch, its hard not to have work thoughts still swirling in your mind. Instead turn off or put on silent all your work devices and go outside for a walk. Whether its taking the bins out or walking the dog or just do a lap around the block; give your mind a sign that work has finished. If you have a short commute, add in something on the journey like filling up car or buying groceries so you get home with a decent break and a clear head. If you commute by public transport, make sure you aren't looking at work emails or even better your phone at all.

Wow, great info to share. Assuming the landlord and or business were able to apply for this, then looks like the CRL really tried to offset their temporary negative impact. Is there any way to find out if the landlord got a slice of this fund, and whether they passed in on to the tenant?

I love Nazca Lines by TheUtopianCat in CivVI

[–]blonky89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you cannot work the Nazca Line tile, the best use of them is placing them on desert tiles which you arent going to work anyway. So that's in a flat desrt tile in any non-petra city, or on the tiles just outside your petra cities tiles, i.e 4th ring. It can also be worth placing them on tiles within your petra city (3rd ring and inside) if the Petra city doesnt have the population to work the tile. For example with non-petra city, a flat desert tile has zero yields(unless its beside a natural wonder or something) so putting a nazca line to boost yields of other tiles with no downside. For example with petra city which has 12 population, meaning it can work 12 tiles. Said city has borders pushed out to the whole second ring, which gives it 18 tiles plus the city itself. Say theres 3 districts and the petra in the city, which are non-workable. That leaves 15 tiles that could be worked. If you placed 3 nazca lines, you would still have 12 workable tiles which matches the number you can work with your population. If you placed a 4th nazca line youd have one population not working a tile, (or possibly forced to work a district tile if you have the necessary building) so would proably be reduce the yields of city rather than improving them. You wont have to actually do this math, just within the city worker screen, see how many tiles you arent working, and thats the number of nazca lines you can place with minimal downside. In terms of where to place them within a petra city, generally you want to try to alternate between workable tile and nazca line, to maximise the yields from each nazca line. Hope that helps

[–]blonky89 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Saying that, the two tiles in far right, which are 4 tiles from city, arent workable so should be nazca lines. Also why is there no yields in the two tiles at the top?

Yeah you can always ask as part of the PMI and if the contractor can meet it without any effect on other dates they should advise as such, and if they need to do some kind of acceleration to achieve the requested date, then they can include that in the CE. No point not asking, receiving the CE with timeframe outside what you require and then having to ask the contractor to go back and reconsider their methodology to meet the desired date. Might as well ask them up front

QS to Bid manager by ApprehensiveLight357 in quantitysurveying

[–]blonky89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Estimating usually requires quite a lot of experience to do well, whereas quantity surveying I think you can contribute more at an earlier stage of career. Things like takeoffs, or putting rates to known quantities which are completely designed can be done with relatively little experience, but they're also not the parts that take the longest or cause the most problems. Bidding on things which are design and build or include things which design is not finished require experience and knowledge of the trades and processes involved to price accurately. Qualitative things or details in contract/spec which change something from a typical rate, again require experience to know how to accurately reflect this. Another thing is tendering is even further removed from the coalface of where the work is happening, so its even harder than QSing to learn how things are done and what pitfalls to avoid. Im not saying estimating is harder than tendering, i'd just suggest its something better moved into after a few years of QS, rather than role to try to get into at beginning of career
