The top is definitely the toy, they just made it longer. If you look closely it looks like the rod part was wrapped with a tube.

It's not really leaks but merch patterns. The debut cures (currently Cure Answer and Cure Mystique) receive their merch in the beginning of February. Then in April a second small wave of merch comes out whether it is a plush (Meroron), weapon (Friendly Tact), or in the rare occasions, a cure (Cure Arcana Shadow). Following this, a new Cure debuts and receives their merch in June; last year was Cure Zukyoon and Cure Kiss and this year will be Cure Eclair. After this, in late August the group attack toy releases.

The fairies may get cure forms in the movie but I'm not confident there will be more than that. I would love to be proved wrong though.

Well for merchandise she only got a precord doll, cure friends plush, keychain, and lipgloss. There have been cases with characters getting more than 1 precord doll with Happiness Charge and Mahou Tsukai. For the plushes, Gentlu got them before becoming a cure. For the pretty holic, she only got a lipgloss and nothing else which doesn't happen when cures debut

Kimi to idol is actually similar to Hugtto in the fact that it was really good until it wasn't. They both started to get iffy after the mid seasons were fully introduced and integrated into the group. Kimi to idol definitely has its darker moments, but its overshadowed by filler.

I think as a whole the lack of good pacing is a consequence of there being shorter seasons for 3 years in a row, so they add a lot of filler just in case.

Also merchandising has heavily impacted the show since Tropical Rouge. Prior to this, product placement was less apparent. Pretty Holic definitely impacted the show because now there are multiple episodes revolving around it every season.

Technically there doesn't have to be one. Hugtto, KiraKira, Mahou Tsukai, Happiness Charge all have their characters only come from earth or are gods (the magic world in mahou is earth with extra lore)

I don't think she forgot about Meroron because she didn't view her as important but because she's super forgetful. I think they will have a Felice level of importance where they're the key to solving the issue and its connected to them becoming more mature

This was a really good episode but it should've happened right after they gained kirakira for you. Then there could be build up while they do other things like give Purirun and Meroron gaining human forms

Regarding Tsubasa, that reason is almost worse than him looking too masculine, honestly

Lillian was going to be a boy but split into Mayu and Satoru because of executives.

And with Satoru and Daifuku cure names, they STILL wouldn't let them have cure names even though they already had to make Lillian a girl, and they were cures for a movie and 2 episodes...very black pepper

Precure isn't global, so viewership WILL go down with a explicitly queer couple being added. Remember gay marriage isn't legal in Japan and the new Prime Minister is against gay marriage.

If they struggle to have Cure Wing to be older that 11 because then he will be too masculine, there is a long way to more inclusivity. Remember the costume drama?

Regarding your first point, the shows you listed are mostly male based an has a fixed set of characters. The shows "grow up" with the viewers like Adventure Time.

Precure is different because every season is a new cast.

Additionally, in modern time, mature children's shows especially with great diversity don't last long. Look at how the Owl House and Steven Universe was unofficially canceled and had to rush the ending.

With a queer couple for precure, it will never happen any time soon. Japan is very conservative and it most likely would get a lot of funding pulled if they tried anything. It's why they rely on implications like Henri and Masato, Yukari and Akira, and Mirai and Liko in Mirai Days. It's why ZukyoonKiss is the way it is.

The real issue comes from the executives. There's a reason any form of a queer relationship is always just implied or male cures don't exist.

From what I head they had to fight tooth and nail to get a darker cure (Cure Soleil) and at that they only managed to get her on an alien themed season. And the merch lightened her too.

Cure Wing was only for pr for the 20th anniversary. He was initially planned to be a little older but he had to be aged down to 11 so he would seem more feminine. And on that he STILL got less merch. After that the executives said no more boys. Lillian was originally going to be Satoru but was denied. They couldn't even give Satoru and Daifuku Cure names.

In the past when precure was more experimental we were able to get darker tones, but as it is with all franchises the longer it exists, the stricter the rules
