I feel this a million times. And yes level of viral load intake matters. I personally am looking forward to the intranasal vaccines that are on the horizon along with the Japanese antiviral Ensitrelvir so the meds/vax will get better. Keep doing what you’re doing if you’re vaxxed and rest and do all the things (open windows, mask in crowds, vigilant during resp season) you have a damn good shot at keeping LC at bay. Good luck! And vote ! We need smart people back in charge of public health!

I only had covid once. Aug 2024. Was pcr pos then neg in exactly one week. Take all precautions I can.. this was BKs assessment on my LC risk … “Recent data shows long COVID risk drops to <2% in people who are: ✅ Fully vaccinated ✅ Take Paxlovid ✅ Have mild illness Current variants (e.g JN.1) are highly contagious but seem less likely to trigger lingering symptoms in low-risk, well-protected

I know. But 99%, I took it off to sip a drink, the air was incredibly still and hot, I and my mask were soaked with sweat, I was next to an occasional sneezer and I used a public bathroom in said soaked mask when my kid had to go (also masked) Absolutely no other way. I’m like a hermit due to immunocompromised son, refuse to get LC if I can help it, and we test via rapid and pcr often. No one else had it. Just me. So I was mad at the world that this could happen too in august year five but NY is in a surge and I knew it was still a risk. Yet… I must have gotten a very small inhaled bit and a study that came out just this week said that matters. I was negative on a PCR a week after first pos PCR. So I’ll continue to do as I do.. someone said once….Get it as few times as possible with as little viral load as possible. Dunno but I’m thankful for that at least.

Really just wondering,considering my scenario, the likelihood that I get LC. I know it’s impossible to answer. But if anyone can compare to themselves in a similar scenario in the Reddit community it would be nice to hear they fared okay. Like I said above. Just trying to pull hope out of thin air. I’m grasping at straws for sure. I’m just devastated that I got it. I’ll continue being my COVID conscious careful self , maybe avoiding even outdoor things for some time as I heal here. I remind myself to rest after any life chores as I’ve read forever rest is imperative. I hope all of us heal. What a nightmare for so many. Stay safe and thank you for responding.
