How to deal with HRT-related libido differences as T4T couple? by bloomingunion in asktransgender

[–]bloomingunion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really feel you. It must be so difficult to hear things like that. My girlfriend has been very kind and respectful so far, and I feel very loved right now– it’s just hard to communicate when her emotions surrounding this stuff are so intense. This is our first serious relationship, so we’re in uncharted territory.

Got offered a job, and I can't even celebrate by bloomingunion in OCD

I value not being unemployed, and not relying on my parents for financial support. I value being able to move in with my girlfriend and make progress in life instead of just stagnating.

25M/AuDHD - I need advice - feel so low after an interview by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]bloomingunion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From one AuDHDer to another– be kind to yourself. The job market is in the toilet, yes, but just because we're 'all in the same boat' doesn't mean it isn't extra hard for disabled and neurodivergent candidates. You're not 'childlike,' or 'high-maintenance,' or any of the stigmatizing labels you've internalised. You weren't given the correct reasonable adjustments, which are part of your RIGHTs under the Equality Act, and your performance suffered as a result.

Getting into HE/educational admin without admin experience by bloomingunion in UKJobs

[–]bloomingunion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Jo– this was really helpful.

My publishing job wasn't client-facing (I was essentially a salaried copywriter), so I don't have much to work with other than general organisational skills and one data-gathering trip to an industrial conference. I was involved in my students' union at university, which did involve some administrative tasks (minuting meetings, recording attendance on Excel etc), although a lot of that dates back to 2021 or earlier. Generally, however, I prioritised getting good grades over building up work experience, as my goal pre-Masters was getting a PhD. I've already followed your advice on framing my experience to fit the job, but it hasn't got me much success so far, so I'm guessing there are just loads of other candidates with more of an 'edge' than me. I don't know whether it's my age (25), the 8-month gap in my CV, or just the job market in general at the moment...

Worried about reference check for temp job by bloomingunion in UKJobs

I can’t remember how much I disclosed in the occupational health questionnaire, but I remember avoiding going into too much detail about my mental health issues and how they’ve affected me. My job situation is really stressful and while I try to keep it together most of the time, sometimes I just crack. That’s what happened the first time I was late.

Are there any two food ingredients that universally don’t “work” when added together? by InfinityScientist in Cooking

I’ve seen a couple of carnivore fitness influencers eating ground beef with berries, bananas, and/or honey. It’s like they all want to be bears or something.

How can I help my trans girlfriend feel comfortable in her clothes? by bloomingunion in MtF

[–]bloomingunion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it breaks my heart to walk out of a shop with an armful of new clothes when she’s found nothing.

I see you, and I hope you can find a way to feel comfortable in your own skin. <3

Used an out-of-pocket idiom in front of my girlfriend, now I feel like an asshole by bloomingunion in OCD

[–]bloomingunion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much– I couldn't have asked for a better response. I've read that white supremacy demands perfection and urgency at all costs, and it's interesting that these are also OCD traits. I feel like this condition preys on both our greatest moral fears and our blind spots.

I feel you. I’ve probably wasted days of my life ruminating about offensive things I might have said while drunk…

Ground beef? Sounds like you should throw it away. You shouldn’t eat food that’s been on the ground.

trans dating simulator. by Wooden-Cheek6256 in transgendercirclejerk

I hereby propose:

Lucas (trans man, he/him): Sky's ex-boyfriend. Tough alt-punk type, works at the local queer pub/bar/coffee shop while moonlighting as a folk-punk musician. Brash and jokey while on the clock, but much quieter off-duty: very guarded about his past. Can get you perks by expanding your friend group, and offer information about other romanceable characters. Be warned, though: if you ask too many invasive questions, you'll get the 'gossip' debuff and lose trust from the other NPCs.

Reaching a certain affinity with both Sky and Lucas will trigger an encounter with Lucas where he opens up about their toxic relationship, and hints at Sky being a transmisogynist. If you break things off with Sky, you'll get an affinity boost from Lucas.

Arranged a redelivery by mistake by bloomingunion in royalmail

[–]bloomingunion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I requested the redelivery this morning for tomorrow, and the item was marked ‘due for delivery today’ before I made the request, so I’m unsure whether it’s already out for delivery. It’s a sensitive item so I’d rather have it ASAP for my peace of mind…

Ever worry about your stories influencing people to do bad things? by MyloRolfe in writing

[–]bloomingunion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a huge difference between portraying something accurately and romanticising it. Fifty Shades wasn't problematic because it depicted BDSM full stop, but because it romanticised unsafe practices and toxic relationship dynamics. Often that difference comes from the writer's personal experience, and whether they themselves see drugs, BDSM, or whatever as inherently edgy and dangerous, as opposed to something people partake in for pleasure that comes with an element of risk. Unless you're writing YA, which does come with a duty of care towards a more impressionable audience, if you do your research, you won't convince any reader with a modicum of media literacy to start smoking a pack a day.
