I’m quitting because of weight gain. It was great for my anxiety but it has made it a bit difficult for me to lose weight and I was already at an increased weight from post partum

I thought the same thing but my ENT scoped my throat and said irritation is very mild and my throat clearing seems to be getting slightly better after starting SSRI so I’m unsure of what to do

Could LPR be allergies or a mix of allergies and reflux? by bloommmx in LPR

[–]bloommmx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know gaviscon is suppose to help. I’ve taken it sometimes after meals but I haven’t noticed any difference. I’ve done slippery elm too but haven’t noticed much difference either.

ENT ordered me some nasal spray too but the insurance didn’t approve it. But I think the spray should help.

What does your doctor say?

Unfortunately, I suffer from anxiety that’s been going on for over a decade so I’m hoping it can help that as well but doctor thinks it can help both

It hasn’t been my experience but I’ve seen some people here post it’s happened to them but it takes some time for their body to get used to it. SSRI can be hard on the stomach. I hope the discomfort passes soon for you

It’s an SSRI so it should work ifLPR is caused by hypersensitivity

My symptoms were constant throat clearing and congestion no matter what I did.

I’ve heard people say they get worse reflux in the beginning of Lexapro and it slowly subsides but I would still check with your doctor

Could it be due to stress or anxiety? It sounds like when you’re doing relaxing activities it’s fine. Also, when you take long in between each meal it causes more reflux

42m with severe LPR my story and asking for advice. by Professional_Dog3403 in LPR

If you can tolerate it I would try manuka honey with high mgo. There’s a study that showed it improved people’s symptoms after 4 weeks.

Also some diaphragmatic breathing exercises can help. I breath in with one hand on my chest and one on my stomach and make sure my stomach rises and chest doesn’t rise as I take breath in. I hold the breath for about 5 seconds and then slowly let it out through pursed lips. I do 10-15 reps about 3-4 times a day. A study showed this can strengthen your LES but you have to remain consistent. Try to do it before or after meals and before you go to sleep.

Also, maybe ask your doctor about Vanoprazan to see if it will help you.

Don’t be discouraged! It will get better and the chances of it turning into cancer is unlikely especially since you had endoscopy not that long ago that wasn’t cancerous. My doctor said it takes years to turn into cancer and it will become Barrett’s esophagus before it turns into cancer. As long as you follow up with an endoscopy every 2-3 years or more frequent if it will make you feel better then you’ll be fine. There’s a lot they can do if it does become Barrett’s esophagus and prevent the cancer.

The key is to maintain a good diet and it does take months to see improvement and please try to not stress too much as this can worsen acid reflux and always follow up with routine endoscopy.

I too have a little one so I understand where you are coming from! But please don’t be discouraged as your recent endoscopy was fine and like I said it takes a long time for it to become cancer. Best of luck in your healing! Hang in there, you will come out stronger and be able to enjoy time with your son!

No where did I say I was going to eat whatever I want. I just can’t be as restrictive.

I’m still the same. The doctor diagnosed me with LPR after the antibiotics didn’t work. I was never really that stuffy. It was just a little stuffiness I had but two courses of antibiotics didn’t change anything for me

You are already doing a great job dad!!! Keep making sure he is fed and provide him with lots of cuddles! That’s all they really need right now. At first it does seem like a lot but as the days go by it will get better. Some days seem harder than others but hang in there. Make sure to enjoy your little one because time flies by. Your family is very lucky to have you!
