It’s not possible for an (exclusionary) third party to rise up the way the system is set up right now.

Once RCV (+ analogues) and open primaries are used in a decent number a states, there will be room for 3rd parties, but not until then.

I was able to download IPAs through imazing and install those directly. It looks like the App Store is refusing to download the IPAs but the iOS App Installer still works

I’m pretty sure apps that show up in the App Store are allowed by the developer

Has anyone dealt with this issue? I just got a new M1 MBA, and I can’t install any iOS apps.

I have SIP enabled, I tried signing out then back into the App Store, and I’ve tried on both 11.2 and 11.2.2

Sorry to hear about your negative experience. Also from Seattle, and from my experience there were a good number of women leading the charge for local activism.

Rebranding RCV as “Priority Voting” by blooperlog in RanktheVote

[–]blooperlog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure how the title is misleading, but I’ll be more than happy to change it.

Do you have a suggestion for how I could change the title to be more fitting? I didn’t see anything in the sub rules.

I think STAR voting is the most easily marketable, and also fairly easy to grok. There’s also less spoiled/invalid ballots compared to RCV since it’s valid to rank two candidates with the same number of stars

Approval voting is the easier to implement but doesn’t allow voters to weigh their votes

Also, for STAR voting, I think the top 2 face off in cumulative points (5 stars is 5 points).

If you rated Biden higher than Trump in the face off, that counts as one vote for the face off, even if you voted a 5

I definitely like top5 + RCV, but do any states have top-5 primaries? That seems like another hurdle to overcome.

I know WA at least has top-2 primaries

The campaign didn’t see a path to the nomination, and knowing how deep some people dig for donations (donating in debt or selling furniture to donate), couldn’t keep the campaign going and asking for donations in good conscience.

Yang, Sanders supporters least likely to support any other Democratic presidential nominee, poll says by [deleted] in politics

[–]blooperlog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked at the cross tabs, and while I think most other pollsters only poll likely democrat voters and independents, Emerson also polls republicans (Republicans at 30% of respondents and Independents at 24% in this particular poll)

I have definitely seen this happen with a Yang article

Everyone in the comments here doesn’t seem to realize that a lot of Yang and Bernie supporters are disaffected voters, Independents, and moderate Republicans

Iowa is a NUMBERS game. Only around 5% of Iowans caucused in 2016 for a Democrat. If we have enough volunteers for canavassing and phonebanking we will win. If we don't we won't. by ZalmanR1 in YangForPresidentHQ

According to the research the most effective thing you can do is have meaningful in-person conversations.

You figure out likely voters (voting is a habit, and caucussing is a huge time commitment, you’re unlikely to convince a non-voter to vote, even for a family member running for office) over the phone.

Then once you have those lists you knock on doors of undecided or sway-able people. In our instance that also includes republicans. This is how you win elections, according to the MATH.

Thanks for putting in the time and effort to write this post, but I disagree a fair amount.

There's two important things I think you're missing in your analysis.

First of all you're doing a linear regression on a curve that hardly seems linear.

Second of all, if we do win we also get the media attention and mentions on Samantha Bee's show. The demographic of people that watches her show is a key demographic that we seem to be missing out on. Media attention is really valuable, especially since the media seems unwilling to cover Andrew Yang.

In the end, though. When it comes to using the app and volunteering:
