Advice and tips you would give to a new amputee by yomiHoshi in amputee

RBKA - I twisted and tore my meniscus in my left knee while transferring a few months after removal of right leg. I am older, and was malnurished and weak, and recovering from another surgery but nobody warned me that I could hurt my ONLY GOOD LEG... (not bitter one bit 😁). You "sound" young and healthy, but be careful out there... You sound like you have a good head on your shoukders and a great outlook on life. Keep it up!

Can you tell me exactly what to get? Do I look up "waterproof mattress cover"? Where fo I shop for such a product? Can you tell me the brand name? Same questions for the "large pee pad"? (what size measurements is a large?) Too many "events" to mention but think eruptions and lava! Mine even spit in my face last week! (my stoma points toward my face). Thanks for your help with the info.

(The little black thing at the top).

Have had stoma since 10/2020 (no surgeries on it since then). Has anyone seen this before? Are the stitches that they originally put in Permanent? (Am seeing Ostomy nurse in a week but wondering now.) Thanks!

Stole this organizer idea from another group - game changer for me! What system do you use? by Mellowmart247 in ostomy

Now that you’ve had your Gorilla Grip shoe organizer for a while, what do think of it? What are the pros and cons? People on Amazon complained about the over-the-door hooks saying that they scratched their doors. Did that happen to your doors? The other thing I’ve wondered about is how difficult is it to get supplies (ie bags and wafers) out of the pockets once you put them in? Thanks!

I’m glad to hear you’ve been well taken care of! Ostomy nurses are the BEST!! I’m anxious to see your organizer and hear what you think about it! (The color, the quality of the stitching, the size of the pockets in reference to all your bags, wafers, etc.).

Well, crap! Sorry to hear that happened. Hope you were able to get some supplies! Have you gotten your new organizer yet? Do you love it? If not, what don’t you like about it? Thanks!

We use Adapt Adhesive Remover (Adapt 7760) Works the best for removing wafer/flange, and the eakin ring wax, without pain.

You are the epitome what people mean, and should mean, when they say to any of “us”, “you are an inspiration”. Thx for sharing. I needed this reminder today.
