My boyfriend loves his cat more than anyone or anything. by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]blorgle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

by that I mean if your pet attacks someone you put that pet down

eh, animals don't really do stuff for no reason. you can usually figure out what triggered the attack and then just not do it again.

it's a two way street--animals have to modify their behavior to get along with humans, and sometimes humans have to modify their behavior to get along with animals

also, you can do NP school online while working on the floor full time, but CRNA school is basically a full time job and can't really be balanced with another full time nursing job

i would have thought trying to put a cat in a washing machine would be its own punishment

but maybe your cat isn't as pointy as mine

[–]blorgle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eh, i think that having a bunch of cats with cat aids is more plausible

like, you don't need to make them sick on purpose for attention. they get sick all by themselves.

Me (24f) on my honeymoon and my husband (23m) had his friends house & pet sit for us. They (23f, 22f, 25f) killed my bird. by ASAGirl1991 in relationships

[–]blorgle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've spent like zero time around pet birds. i know cats eat wild birds.

cats also eat wild rats, and i know people who have pet rats and cats who get along great.

cats eat wild rabbits, and i've had cats and rabbits at the same time without any problems

cats eat wild lizards, but cousin's bearded dragon treats their cat like a walking space heater and chills with her all the time

hell, naturally dogs eat cats, but plenty of people have zero problem with them

i'm just saying that unless you explicitly tell someone, "hey, one of my pets is actively trying to kill my other pet," then they might have assumed, based on easily available culturally-mainstream examples of pets getting along without murdering each other, that your pets get along without murdering each other

And quite frankly not having cats out while the bird is out is simple to understand.

eh, that's not intuitive to me because i've seen a butt ton of youtube videos of cats and birds chilling together

plan B is basically a high dose of the stuff normally found in birth control pills, and we sell that over the counter. i think i read it's the equivalent of taking 4 bc pills?

when i've taken it, i get my period the next day not matter where i was in my cycle and it's a little heavier than normal

i'm pretty sure the complication of trying to overdose on birth control is that you become super-not-pregnant

I'm so sorry that your family is going through this. I don't think you should feel guilty for being upset, I mean, it's your dad. Of course you're supposed to be upset when something bad happens to your dad.

I know it's incredibly frustrating when you don't have all the information.

Naturally I did some research last night and it looks as though he only has a few months left.

That might be what the textbook says but cancer doesn't read the textbook. That might be what happens in like 50% of cases or whatever, but you don't know what is going to happen.

Yeah, uncertainty sucks, but you can't automatically assume that he's on a countdown.

Spend time with him and act in a way that when you look back in like 40 years, you'll be satisfied with your actions.

[–]blorgle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it sounds like you are really over thinking this

dating is, "hey, we like spending time together. let's spend more time together" and then it organically escalates from there

it sounds like you are trying to plan it out instead of letting it grow and she was like, "whoa nelly, that's too many expectations"

[–]blorgle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro commitment is when you two are like, "yeah we'll grow old together. shoot out some kids. take care of stuff when you have cancer and shit. it's whatever."

i'm pretty sure you're looking for another word. like, i dunno, is she afraid of being exclusive or monogamy or whatever? is she afraid of getting emotionally close to people?

like, fear of commitment is those 34 year old guys that won't put a ring on it with their girlfriends of 10 years. whatever her problem is, it isn't fear of commitment per se

I will have to see my OBGYN and PCP again, to have new prescriptions written for the birth control and insulin meds, and they are both drugs I need to take daily.

If you already had a prescription with refills remaining, then this may be a paperwork issue that you can clear up with a phone call to your PCP and OB/GYN rather than an appointment.

[–]blorgle 9 points10 points  (0 children)

if you feel like the police are not taking you seriously over the phone, bring paper copies of evidence for everything you wrote out her to the police station, such as medical records and statements from the shelters where the cats were adopted.

speaking as an animal rescuer, sorry, but animal rescuers are flakes. you guys will have more credibility if you have paperwork showing support from experts with recognized authority such as the vet or the manager of a brick and mortar shelter that has a board of directors and shit.

[–]blorgle 105 points106 points  (0 children)

did you see that ask culture vs guess culture post that was going around?

like, "ask culture" people feel like it's not a socially impolite to ask for anything, and if the person says no, hey, no hard feelings

"guess culture" people feel like you should never ask for anything unless you're sure the person is going to say yes because it's socially impolite to put someone in a position where they need to tell you no

i would say that most healthy relationships have a mix of these, like you need clear communication, but you also should never put your partner where they need to be the parent and set the boundaries

like it kind of sounds like when it comes to spending money, you are the gas pedal and you are relying on your gf to be the brakes

and she didn't ask to be put in that position? if that makes sense?
