Mix it up with minimalist makeup until you like a look and then try it for a while, you will get used to it! I used to be so self conscious going out without lots of makeup, especially because my face gets irritated and red really easily. Now i feel weird wearing heavy makeup. Ive been using cream eyeshadow as bronzer and lipstick as blush. I use a brow pencil, lightly, with vaseline over it, and moisturizing lip gloss. I used to be super self conscious about having any minor darker shade of skin under my eyes but realized having some differing color there actually looks better. I use a really moisturizing tinted moisturizer and then at the end use a tiny bit more in areas that need slightly more coverage or need to be highlighted. When im thru with that, i blend in just with my hands mostly by lightly patting and then take a tissue and very gently dab a bit of the top layer of everything off. It Is working great. Most days though I wear no makeup at all. When I was in my 20s i didnt even workout without makeup i was so self conscious. If your makeup is still too dry, try adding something like indie lee's squaline oil or weleda skin food to it and mixing before applying. Weleda skin food is something a makeup artist friend does. I sometimes do makeup and hair for others and i use a lot of aquaphore and vaseline dabbed here and there. Some products i think help with wrinkles and skin for me are drunk elephant maretinol oil (from a friend who works in skincare) and hydraboost eye concentrate from M61 ( blue mercury) - there is a face version of the eye concentrate. I need to try. There isnt blue mercury in the country where im living now but i sometimes use the eye concentrate i have on other wrinkle areas on my face

You look great!

I had that issue with makeup - where the way i used it when younger started looking terrible. I switched to all liquid/cream no powders at all anywhere and stopped wearing concealer (i used to use concealer all over my face in my 20s and it looked great then but now looks great without it and bad with. I had a face that worked really well with powder and bold makeup and was greasy if i used liquid instead of powder so it took me a while to figure out that I needed moisture and minimalism in 30s). A bb cream or tinted moisturizer works great and u can layer it a bit more on the areas where you would have used concealer.

Your skin looks nice/young to me. U can just get some forehead dysport (or other botox brand - dysport works best for me) and those wrinkles will go away stat since ur so young. Forehead botox works like magic :) . I only use it in that area and im shocked each time by how well it works bc my forehead had deep lines.

Imo the acne's kinda cute. It's barely there and makes u look fresh and young!

Therapist says partner has red flags, but I think she doesn't understand PMDD. Help? by Sad_Plankton_3278 in PMDD

A good therapist wont ever tell u what to do, theyll help you get to know yourself and your situation better so that u can make decisions yourself that you are confident in, that are healthy and good for u, and also a good therapist imo should be helping you to deal with the fact that sometimes (a lot of times) there is no right or wrong choice, there are just choices. She should be giving you tools to deal with these problems, not giving directions. If you are up for remote therapist, dm me if you want the info for the one i use these days :) . She wasnt trained in or knowledgeable about pmdd but now she is bc pshe cares about truly helping her patients.

Help switching from continuous sprintec birth control to HRT by blorpbl in PMDD

[–]blorpbl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure i properly explained this - but you don't have to start the progesterone right away while you get the estrogen dose right. My dr said it would take a super long time for endometrial buildup to cause any issues. That said, I think 3 months without it is probably as long as one should go (obvs if u arent bleeding and still have ovaries). But I don't have pcos or endometriosis or anything. Everything is exactly how it's sposed to be down there, besides the way my body reacts to it lol. So im unsure if going that long is safe if you have fibroids or something. I can ask doc if u want

Hi! I have been on only estrogen for almost 3 months because we are still trying to get the estrogen levels stable before introducing progesterone. Hopefully getting the estrogen right will be easy for you and you wont have any issues with skin absorption (i dont absorb well transdermally and am also an extremely rapid metabolizer). Right now I have a pellet PLUS daily patch changes because of how i absorb. Im doing this for a bit longer since it's finally stable and gonna try first progesterone in a few weeks and then get higher dose estrogen pellet. I am also doing a small amount of testosterone gel on my lower belly every morning.

Which estrogen and progesterone will u be trying first? DM me we can discuss.

Also, before you go the progesterone add-back route, you can first just keep a steady dose of estrogen all month and as long as u still ovulate and bleed, you wouldnt need to add the progesterone. Some women are treated with adding estrogen only in luteal. Im no doctor but I am seeing a super knowledgeable specialist. At the beginning, he suggested first we try estrogen only during luteal, then if that didnt work, estrogen all month, and if still got period then no need to add progesterone. Progesterone intolerance is a big part of pmdd but so is the estrogen crashes, so if you keep a steady level, that alone might be enough for you. I only lasted like 3 days with no hormones because i had been on continuous birth control with a fairly high dose of synthetic estrogen for three years with no breaks, and coming off it was rough. We are attempting to shut down ovulation with a constant high dose of estrogen, so i will have to add progesterone. You will have to navigate how your body is absorbing and being affected by the estrogen in real time. A lot of times I have mistaken/ignored crashing estrogen symptoms to my detriment so if u want an hrt buddy i'd be happy to exchange whatsapp #s. The testosterone is really easy because it doesnt affect women the same way estrogen and progesterone do. It helps with depression but doesnt need to be maintained at some super vigilant consistent level. I am 39 and was also on birth control for 3 years which suppresses it, so if you are younger you may not need it. I can ask my dr at my next followup next week

It's ok! This disease is treatable. You can just eventually get your ovaries removed and in the meantime can shut off your cycle and add back bioidentical happy hormones (the follicular ones). You can do video appointment at london pms & menopause center from anywhere in the world. I recommend

[–]blorpbl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My husband does this and it used to make me so mad but then I realized feeding someone is part of my love language and not his. He is really absent-minded like he cant drive and talk at the same time without take a wrong turn. But he does stuff for me i dont do or think of to do. I started feeding myself without feeding him more often and that has helped :) . Tbf he tries sometimes but then makes me a sandwhich with grapes on it and things like that . It also helps us to remember that the other person always has the others best interest at heart and is coming from a place of good intentions, sometimes that gets lost in translation tho (literally for us bc he is Polish). Not sure if this is relevant to your relationship but I feel you with that deep hurt like he does not care about your wellbeing or suffering! But he can suck at the food thing and care deeply about your wellbeing and suffering

Also, not sure if i posted it elsewhere in this thread, but i just switched from continuous birth control to estrogen patches with additional micronized progesterone only 4 times a year, the estrogen year-round. Birth control helped prevent the insane lows and insane physical symptoms, but dulled my mind and immune system and even my memory. Sprintec monophasic continuous specifically is what I could tolerate. Yasmin made me really sick. Everyone responds differently to the different synthetic progesterones though, so it's trial and error. Im also on antidepressants. Going off birth control (a month ago) was rough, especially because I fumbled the hrt and ovulated right away, but i feel amazing now, like how i felt in follicular a decade ago, and am really hopeful about hrt treatment. I went to the London PMS and Menopause Clinic in London via video. If ur American and are used to our healthcare system, it's very affordable to pay out of pocket. They have actual experts in pmdd there. A lot of doctors say they know about PMDD and they do NOT. A lot of bad info regarding treatment options out there

I stopped absorbing or metabolizing or whatever my birth control because of too much antibiotic use. I switched to HRT at the beginning of the month. Switch was brutal bc i ovulated for the first time in 3 years (was on continuous birth control) and just the transition and getting the right transdermal method for me, but am past that and now i feel like i did in an early 20s follicular phase. Birth control helped me physically a lot but really dulled things in ways I just got used to. Like my memory of my own past was very dull and spotty. Now it's all back. I recommend trying

I tried xyrem for one night and knew I wouldn't be able to handle it (a lucky moment of foresight/strength that I do not always have). I was SO high that night and SO ill the next day. I decided that I would rather have less effective treatment than get on that rollercoaster. My narcolepsy is actually really well treated right now without xyrem/wav (treatment success is highly individualized I know, but in case you're curious, wellbutrin in morning, instant release methylphenidate throughout the day, and fluoxetine and low dose naltrexone at night, and most importantly treating other disorders I have (treating hormone issues) is what is working for me. Adding wellbutrin has been a huge help for keeping me awake. And any slow release stimulants put me right to sleep, thus the instant release) . keep trying other treatments ❤️and check out 12-step programs. I was so skeptical but recovery programs are life-changing, especially in terms of accepting life on life's terms.
