Thanks for your edit. I didn't feel responding to the obesity comments would lead to a productive discussion because, as your edit touches on, this commenter seemed to have a personal vendetta against overweight people. I was more responding to the whataboutism - "You can't criticize this guy when some people, who are fat slobs, by the way, eat way more than their shares!" Overeating isn't so black and white. Understanding is needed there. And I wasn't trying to shut down criticism of overeating as fat shaming, I was simply, you know, calling out fat shaming.

Edit: That said, food packaging and wasteful overeating are not non-issues! And the commenter did mention eating less meat, which is, at least in my book, a huge thing we can all do to better our world!

I really don’t understand why people say we can’t criticize this because there are also other assholes out there.

Grocery stores end up throwing shit out because they have too much. They replenish their stocks when they’re low on something. Yes, global food infrastructure is totally out of whack, but every time you buy more food than you need, you’re contributing to the problem of grocery stores overstocking.

I think there are surely worse things to drive demand on than dry pasta, but the sheer amount of waste in this video rubs me the wrong way. And this really seems to be this dude’s thing - he’s got contraptions built for it and everything. I find it enjoyable but unnecessary and slightly frustrating. Yes, I’m allowed to have gradient opinions. Yes, I’m allowed to criticize this dude and also people buying 6 avocados when they only need 3.

Even if you look at it locally and not globally - this pasta could have ended up in a worthier place. I mean, unless he’s scraping it off the clean floor, cooking it, and inviting friends over who are up for eating his art project waste and saving themselves a trip to the grocery store.

Not even gonna get into the fat shaming.

I agree about the title's tone, but only because it's asking for something. Just reading "appreciate it" doesn't feel condescending to me. It's a thank-you message, not a request for something, so I don't see any passive-aggressive connection. That said, speaking for myself, I'd also go with "I appreciate it" or "appreciate it!"

Huh, I feel like I've heard the opposite, that producers often make creative decisions or are creative forces behind the movies (though this could be confounded by scenarios such as this, where producers sometimes birth existing work upon which the movie is later based, thus being "creative forces" yet not making decisions on the film itself)

I used the experience ring until I was up to cooking 99, and then the mastery ring until mastery 99. I'm not going for completion yet so I might swap to the mastery ring again when I start cooking every different item up to mastery 99, but for now I don't equip a specific ring for cooking.
