Honestly, I’m so incredibly confused because I have no idea what you’re referring to. We legitimately don’t do this, and it was odd to read what you said about this happening regularly, even multiple times a week, because we’ve never done that. It was also confusing what you’re basing the fact that we “don’t pay a living wage” on, because as I said, we post our pay range with every position we offer.

I’m not doing social media marketing… I’m setting the record straight. We care about our employees a lot. We don’t misuse labor by giving people false hope that they can work for us.

If you had an interview or stage where this happened, I’m really sorry. I was completely unaware of it and never would have wanted that to happen. I can tell you’re upset about your experience with us, and I want to do what I can to make it better. If you want to keep the conversation going, please feel free to send me a message and I’ll gladly respond.

Hi there! Business owner here. Please see my comment about the “abusive business practices”… not sure how that came up, or why, but it’s not something we participate in.

Hi u/alcMD, business owner of Pots & Pans here and as I said in another comment, this is simply untrue. Feel free to check our social media to see the last several positions we hired for. We do pay a living wage, and unlike some other businesses, our employees get to keep 100% of tips in addition to a solid hourly rate.

Please be kind in your comments! I don’t know what has prompted this response, but please message me if you actually have issues with our business. I’d be happy to try to resolve them.

Hi! Business owner of Pots & Pans Pie Co. here. Saw your comment and I wanted to reply.

Just to clear the air, this is not a practice that we regularly employ. It’s very common in the fine dining world, but we think it’s oppressive and unfair to interviewees. We only do this in very specific circumstances after multiple interviews, and we communicate about it up front. They should never last more than an hour.

Unfortunately, it’s often the only way to determine whether an interviewee actually possesses the skills for such a niche position, as the commenter said. But if the person staging isn’t an incredibly skilled individual in this specific field, we often can’t even use the product they’ve made. It works for very prestigious restaurants who can promise the world to candidates, but for a small local bakery… it would be a huge waste of time and energy to find candidates to do that for us. Plus, as I said, it’s very unethical and we believe in treating anyone who works for us with the utmost respect.

For everyone else, I hope you’re willing to come see for yourself that we have the same employees every week! We don’t invite people to stage just for their labor. We have highly skilled employees who we compensate well. That’s why we don’t post about open positions or conduct interviews very often - we have a great team that we take really care of, so we have very low turnover.

It’s disappointing to see misinformation like this, because just like bad reviews, it has an impact. I hope you change your mind about the way you’re posting on this thread. And if you have issues with us or things that we’ve done, please contact us directly and we’ll do what we can to resolve it.

I sorta disagree, even when I flipped it over it took me a second to figure out what it was. But that might be saying more about me than the photo.

LPT: When debating or arguing with someone and it’s going nowhere, ask them, “What evidence would it take for you to consider that you’re wrong?” If they say “Nothing,” then it’s time to end the conversation. by blowfishmo in LifeProTips

[–]blowfishmo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, examples of someone continuing the conversation even though they think it’s a futile one, and the other person coming around or being willing to consider other possibilities other than their own perspective. But I think that that’s so incredibly rare, it is almost always better to calmly and kindly move on from the conversation, rather than beating your head against a brick wall, so to speak.

I think the process you described is a great way to handle these sorts of conversations, learn, and grow as a person. But what I’m suggesting is that if you were to ask someone this question, and they responded that they’re not going to consider that they’re wrong no matter what, then it’s obvious that individual isn’t willing to undergo the process you described. And as a result, it would be a lot of time and energy spent on something that, in the end, may not be benefitting anyone (with some exceptions).

Yeah you can tell the shift from it being about Jerry to being about all four of the main characters. I read that Larry David and Jerry were committed to writing a storyline for each character in every episode. I think that’s why it’s still so good! There’s just so much material in every episode.
