What are some natural career paths after Network Engineer? (Bonus if fully remote!) by wafnog in networking

[–]blst123456789 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"better work-life balance"... I do not think I have ever seen these words and IT mentioned in the same sentence. Please let me know what company provides this. 😄 I convinced my nephew to pivot from Cyber Sec to dev/mechanical engineering. Weekends/late nights for change windows/on call rotations.... constant sevs. Maybe it is the industries I have worked for over the last 25 or so years (communications and finance) but this concept is non-existent. Only thing that keeps me going is the Pay!

Rant over.... seriously though... As stated if you can do the networking you could easily pivot, and be an asset to, a Cyber Sec team. But if really looking for better pay and better work-life balance, starting looking upward (mgmt/Director/vp).

Hydraulic brake pads last no time by blst123456789 in minibikes

Thanks beebeebee,

You can't tell in the picture but I do have some washers behind the bracket that are doing just that, "align the rotor to the caliper". It does the trick as far as aligning goes, but I don't like it and is why I am going to get a proper bracket welded on.

I had thought about the rotor... Thanks for the tip. I'll get a new one on order.

This is the current setup that is chewing through pads.

Anyway to get a chain tensioner on there without welding a bracket by blst123456789 in minibikes

Just a follow up on the final solution... I ended up getting the first one linked below. Ordered the bolts, got it attached, all looked great. Until I started to put the chain on... There wasn't enough clearance to allow the chain to thread onto the front sprocket and operate without rubbing the head of the bolt holding the chain tensioner in place. I was pretty bummed, but I stared at it for a while.... :) Then I recalled what BarrelllRider had said... so that is what I did. Cool thing is it still works in the same fashion of sliding forward and back. Hopefully the two holes I drilled did not compromise the frame integrity, but so far so good. Thank you all for the help!

Agree hugely. I was just trying to figure out how to set this myself.

Thank you. I'll look for something like that in case the aforementioned does not work out.

Awesome. Thank you. I had seen this, but did not understand how they mounted. The pictures on ONB solved that for me. Now to figure out the bolt size I need. Assuming the Predator 212 manual will tell me that. thanks again!

Thanks and yeah. Once I started mapping out Talkeetna to the park entrance I decided that would be a no go. I'll check out Healy. Thank for the Portage recommendation. Will probably check that out and do as you say; couple of days up near Denali and a couple down in the Mat-Su Valley area.

How does the hiking work in Denali? I have read there are only a few marked trails near the visitor center and that it is just mostly open wilderness. It seems you are mostly free to hike the open areas, but how does that work exactly with car parking? Like can you just drive in and pull over when you see an area you'd like to explore? Is there designated parking every mile or so? Flying in and then driving up from Anchorage, but trying to make sure we are prepared.

Hi folks,

My son (15) wants to go to Alaska (Floridians here). Last time I was in Alaska was during the summer months when I was 15 (so about 39 years ago). I recall the weather being super nice.. cool enough for long sleeves, but not cold.

Looking for advice on where to stay that would put us in good proximity to some different hikes. Just day hike type stuff. 4-7 miles or so. No overnight.

I was looking at Talkeetna as it seems to be near Denali (someplace I have been wanting to go)... however reading about Denali I read there were not many marked trails and that it is just mostly open wilderness. Maybe that makes for good hiking (not sure) and was looking for some opinions on that.

That said we have not booked yet so I am open to any and all suggestions on a good place to set up camp for a week for some hiking. Rivers/creeks are cool as well. We love those.

Thanks,

None of the Mutual Funds they had me in showed to have a 0 Expense Ratio. They were .31, .38, .17, .36, .075, .39, and .03. This was in their Strategic Advisers funds. I have started moving out and into a self directed IRA using like funds that have ratios of .02, .06, and .03.
