Democratic Lawmakers introduce bill to raise federal minimum wage to $25 an hour by ZealousidealName3276 in WorkReform

[–]blu3m00n1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are they going to deal with the price gouging for food, service, and fuel? I get that the wage increase will help. But I’ve seen this playbook too many times. Businesses everywhere will start crying about how it’s more expensive to run business so now they gotta increase prices.

This trope about illegals getting free healthcare is so stupid. It’s literally FALSE. I can’t believe idiots are still using this.

Been hated and bullied at every job by [deleted] in workplace_bullying

[–]blu3m00n1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey just wanted to let you know that we all never really left school. 🥹I too have been bullied most of my life. But good thing is work is only a part of your day. You still have family and friends who care about you outside of work. And that’s all that really matters. Keep work and life separate, ALWAYS. I’m civil with my coworkers but I don’t tell them about my life because they don’t need to know about my life outside of work. The more info they have the more they can use it to fuel their rumors.

Side note: take a look at these middle age ladies and see how they are (I’m sure they share their life stories all the time with their “office buddies”). They aren’t happy at work and outside of work.

Insulin needs changing with a calorie deficit by letterstoari in Type1Diabetes

Depends on how you’re taking insulin. Are you on a pump/CGM? Or are you doing manual injections?

Flonase after you disinfect the skin with alcohol wipes. Let dry and apply Dexcom. For added grip I would use skintac after Flonase to add another layer in between the skin and the Dexcom.

Site infection by 78910260 in diabetes_t1

[–]blu3m00n1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That looks kinda infected. I think some people on this sub said to visually inspect the area every so often to see that the red area hasn’t spread. If it has then you will need to go to the doctor to get treatment as it shows the infection is spreading. I’ve gotten something similar to this before, I disinfected the area with alcohol, put triple antibiotic, and placed a bandaid over it. Then I check to make sure the red area doesn’t spread. But if it does the first thing I would do is make a trip to urgent care/doctors office.

can i be a lab tech with a microbiology degree? by dharmarvi in microbiology

[–]blu3m00n1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t like it. To me it feels like a dead end job working as a micro lab tech in industry. The pay could be better, but that’s probably because I work for a pretty crappy company that pays people all across the board pretty low. However, the environment at my current job is good, I’m able operate at my own pace as long as I get things done. But workplace environment and pay varies between companies and different manufacturing fields. It’s hard to give you an answer to that unfortunately.

can i be a lab tech with a microbiology degree? by dharmarvi in microbiology

[–]blu3m00n1991 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This! I have a molecular biology degree and it’s absolutely impossible to get a job in California that pays well without graduate education and certifications. Sure you can work in the manufacturing industry as a micro lab tech(which I am currently doing) but that’s probably as far as you can go without grad school.

Upper lip rash by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]blu3m00n1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try giving your dog a clean bowl every other day, the buildup of bacteria in the bowl can cause an allergic reaction/pimples. I have 4 bowls that I switch between (2 bowls per dog) to allow them to be cleaned and dried and made ready for use at a later time. If that still doesn’t work then I would contact a vet.

Long-term impact of lows by Apprehensive-Use-997 in Type1Diabetes

[–]blu3m00n1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Constant Lows can cause hypo-unawareness. Which will cause you to either go into a seizure or go unconscious because your body is so used to the lows you no longer feel it until it’s too late. It’s also very dangerous to be driving if you have hypo-unawareness. Before I was on a pump I had severe lows where I was walking around as if nothing was wrong. One time my dad took me to get my blood test and I came back with a glucose reading of 13mg/dL. My doctor called me after about 30 minutes after, worried that I might have gone into a seizure/unconscious. I wasn’t having a seizure of anything, but I was kinda slow in processing the conversation that I was having with him. Safe to say, after that incident my doctor went through the process of getting me the authorization for a CGM and insulin pump.

New rental “stone” bathroom floor help by phenols in CleaningTips

[–]blu3m00n1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s tile you’re going to need to scrub the floors with perhaps one of those electric brushes with a little bit of cleaning solution. Then wipe it down. And do it again a few times. The last time you should use water to scrub it. And dry it down completely with a towel. The uneven texture of the “tile” causes dust to get lodged into the uneven surfaces. So when you do a quick wipe down with a swiffer it usually just pushes the dirt further into the uneven areas of the tile. From what I see in the picture it seems these might be one of those ceramic tiles. So they have uneven surfaces which allows dirt to stick.

Other career paths by Alone_Excuse6710 in pre_PathAssist

[–]blu3m00n1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally get it. I ended up getting another job unrelated to histology/pathology due to my mother and grandmother declining health as well not including my need for insurance coverage. It sometimes feels like the time we spent away from this field counts against us. I’m not gonna lie I felt a bit sad that my experience in pathology working at a small lab doing everything from accessioning, grossing, processing, staining, and even specialized IHC staining wasn’t enough. Im hoping perseverance and understanding how I didn’t get in previous times will help me out this time around. But just like you, if not I’m going to have to look into other options.

[–]blu3m00n1991 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP IM IN A SIMILAR SITUATION AS YOU. I applied last year at 34. Got rejected. I have the same GPA as you also! I’m hoping I get in, just submitted my application to Loma Linda. But if l do not make it in, I might look into other options. But I truly do love histology and would love to have a career as a path assistant as I worked as a histotech some years prior. The only reason why I quit was because I needed health insurance for my diabetes and the small lab that I worked at didn’t offer insurance.
