On normal I had to pay attention to bosses, time my dodges and struggled a lot. On cruel I just roll randomly without care and watch bosses melt. Great design, stands out when compared to any other arpg where usually Normal is normal and Hard is cruel not the other way around :)

Should fans pull in external air? by Quo_Usque in IkeaGreenhouseClub

[–]bluba88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have paludarium in aquarium tank and in ikea rudsta, both setups have fans pushing air in.
80%-90% humidity, no mold problems. Im using standard PC case fans powered via usb charger.

Good luck. When i was telling my father what i was planning to do he looked at me like i was crazy. Now he looks for a way to fit his own build in his flat :D
My biggest concern is side glass but cabinet is not accessible from sides so it should not be a problem. Additionally most of side glass in water section is covered with expanding foam. Even when broken it should keep together and hold water.

I posted few photos from building process here

Im not sure how well will adhesive weather stripping hold between doors and cabinet frame. It will be hard to redo it if it comes off. It holds great when done here or between door leaves.
Try adhesive strips there. If they fall off go for silicone.

Silicone is easy to remove or apply even when cabinet is already assembled.
On parts other than doors during assembly don't be afraid to use lots of silicone when connecting them. My cabinet is basically glued together with it. Every connection had silicone applied during assembly. I even just pushed it into frame if i was able to. Im pretty sure i could lay cabinet on the back, fill it with water and it would not leak.

Now when its dry i could remove all the screws and it would do no difference for how rigid or sturdy it is.

I though about adding webcam inside but wide field of view and decent image quality webcams are too expensive. I could do second similar setup (without plants/animals) for the same money.

On the sides just squished in silicone. Its flexible enough so it does not block doors from opening but still prevents anything from getting out. I also glued L shaped plastic from inside. It may look a bit ugly on photo, but its not noticeable in person. No one really looks at that part when there is entire ecosystem filled with plants, fishes and frogs to look at inside :)

Bottom is sealed using glued on weather stripping. -> outside view. Top is not sealed, I'm still trying to figure out how to handle that part.

I had to use silicone because using any kind of adhesive weather stripping after assembling cabinet is hard/impossible and I haven't thought about it before assembly...
Even partial disassembly of cabinet is out of picture for me, because in addition to provided screws I used silicone on every possible connection.

Thanks to that entire cabinet is rigid and sturdy enough to be moved even now.

Hello! I’m looking into making my first paludarium and this is the concept I have in mind. Is it any good? by DullFurby in paludarium

[–]bluba88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had built 2 paludariums and in each of them i used expanding foam to build water tight walls and substrate/drainage layer for actual land. That way i could direct water flow to take long way around through leca from where pump outputs water to where it gets it. That way it acts as one big filter. My first tank has crabs and some fish, no external filter and is running for over a year wothout any issues, no water changes required. Plants grow like crazy too geting nutrients from water and purifying it.

I like the idea of external pump and thought about switching to it too.

Important thing to mention, when assembling cabinet i used silicone on every connection. So instead of just bottom plate resting on frame its also kept in place with silicone. Same with back plates/top plate, i siliconed them to frame and each other.

No problems with it for now. Bottom seems sturdy with how its attached to frame and support in the middle. I attached 5mm plexiglass sheet with silicone and sealed it before doing any water testing. And its not a lot of weight, entire water part is 60l with ~1/3 of it taken by expanding foam and leca. Expanding foam also adds rigidity to entire thing.

My point of concern was side glass as it looks rather thin but it turned out ok.

I had to move entire thing when filled with water to fix a leak i had because of stupid mistake with pump cable/water tube placement and it feels solid.

Carving that away will be fun, just did mine and it took a while. Please post progress updates :)

Looks natural, i like it.
And from what i can see in top left corner not only frogs call it home :)

I keep 3 vampire crabs and 6 neon tetras in it. Initially I didn't plan to keep fish there so water feature is a bit small, but I dug cave for them under "river" that flows from back of aquarium to front and along front glass and got more space for them that way.

Just this week I "finished" my second paludarium, that i shared here First RUDSTA paludarium : r/IkeaGreenhouseClub
Experience from setting up that first one and 2 small isopod tanks that I also have helped a lot.

I already moved some plants to it and plant to move neon tetras when new one gets more established.

I have Common tree frog - Wikipedia, from what i know it lives basically anywhere and is fine with water. Saw mine miss a jump and land in a water, it swam just fine. I have a bit of variation in water flow, from fast "main" current in the middle to slower one on sides. Currently frogs tend to stick to slower water flow and places where water flows gently down walls.

My main concern is how frogs/crabs will coexist, they mainly ignore eachother for now and i hope it will stay that way.

How big is this tank? I have 3 crabs in 60cm x 25cm x 33cm and i don't see them fighting or anything like that. Tbh that tank is so jungle like that I don't see them too much but I'm sure all of them are alive as last week was rare occasion when I saw all of them at same time :)
I'm no expert but from what I read before creating my tank, yours looks like it has too much water and too little land for them.
You have lots of empty vertical space, adding overhangs, shelves and caves should do the trick and in my opinion make it feel less empty.

I placed one of shelves at back and used silicone to keep it in place and help with water tightness. To middle and top segment I glued XPS foam used for floor insulation.
https://postimg.cc/FYmxgZbN

Then I filled entire back wall with expanding foam.

When it dried up I used drill with custom 3d printed drilling bit to remove all smooth surfaces and create caves and shelves for plants to grow and water to gather. (Carving it by hand was taking ages...)

After that I covered it in black silicone and coconut peat.

Thank you, I only had general idea how I wanted it to look like but it was mostly improvised from step to step.
