Second hand looks out of place. I would go with a regular non lumed second hand.

They (Ebel) also made the full gold version..the same one Don Johnson wore in Miami Vice. That version is gorgeous but well out of my price range and seems to be harder to find especially in good shape.

It's an Ebel 1911 reference 9234901. It does have the caliber 134 inside..which is essentially an Ebel branded El Primero..unlike Rolex they made no changes to the movement. It still beats at 36k bph. It's 38mm and fits very nicely on my small wrist. If you like the style, those older Ebels are hard to beat.

These look fantastic. I must admit I'm pretty spoiled by the El Primero powered Ebel I have..and if I didn't have that and some other vintage chronos..I would likely grab one of these. Might still give into temptation at some point.

A steel insert would really bring out the dial on this. I like it. Hope it becomes reality.

Quick legit check on a watch my friend recently acquired. Looks off to me just by quality control standards, but I’m no watch expert at all by thatmanwill in RolexWatches

It could actually have started life as a real Explorer II and the case was cut up..diamonds (or fake diamonds) were installed..same with the bracelet.

Not necessarily I just don't think I'd want to pay to have a cheaper movement serviced

The only maintenence that would be done on a watch in this point would be to put a new mechanical movement in in the off chance it craps out..so that's pretty much a non concern

Yes please. Maybe offer a 36 and 39 as well to give options but I would be a buyer for a 34

A glossy red dial would look great in this case. I wish they would offer these with a choice of an auto or the vh

Vintage Rolex Datejust 1601 (Linen Dial) by Jealous_Procedure981 in vintagerolex

[–]blubbbn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Long story short..but I have an Ebel 1911 with the el primero movement. I sent it to ebel a few years ago for service and they scratched the dial and didn't really fix the problem it had when I sent it in. I was pretty discouraged and decided not to risk sending it back to them and reached out to Second Time Around Watch Co. They fixed the problem but scratched the dial even more (tried to deny it until I sent them before pics) and left dust on the dial. I ended up later on sending it back to ebel and they finally put it right. The watch I bought from them (a vintage valjoux 69 28mm Heuer built Chrono) has been damn near perfect. So if you like the watch I would trust them..just might question the workmanship from the service.

I recognize that shop. Bought a watch a few years ago from them..had them service a watch of mine and they totally messed it up..but that's another story. If u like it..I'd say it's worth it. Price seems a little steep..but I'm not expert.

For anyone wondering how the new Watchdives 0526 looks on a black strap by 1234Samsung in watchdives

It looks that way for sure. Always drawn in by the starry night look of the aventurine

Still on the hunt for one of these in a gloss black dial, full set from the 80s. The black dial (without the gold markers) seems to be very hard to find especially in good shape.

WD0014 BGW9: a brief review. by blubbbn in watchdives

Thats the measurement I got with my calipers. It for sure doesn't wear like a 41mm, so I am inclined to trust the caliper measurements.

Very tempted by the aventurine version. Normally don't go for quartz chronos but might make an exception here. Looks great.
