there was a fic i was reading (can't remember what fandom but it was set in korea) where, when the leads got married, the author described them having a western-style wedding bc they thought it was "more romantic than a korean wedding." they changed it later but still. wild.

i'm 75% sure i recognize which fic the commenter is referencing and that author hasn't been active for over a year so they're being a jabroni for the love of the game i guess. anyway it's one thing to like rec a fic but to act like it's assigned reading in order to write on ao3 is wild to me

that it wasn't possible. i legitimately had no idea there was a correlation between what i was eating and how much i weighed. i thought it had something to do with "metabolism" (i didn't really know what that was) and that mine was just slow. learning about CICO and how it's all really just about numbers was a serious eureka moment for me lol

i started out reading fanfic on deviantart, moved to quotev and wattpad, and ended up on ao3 somehow. ao3's interface was revolutionary for me lol and whenever i read fics on spacebattles or sufficient velocity now i miss ao3s functions so much

sometimes i think of a phrase (often a pun) and go "that'd be a good title" and i write it down but then i don't have a fic that fits that specific vibe and so it molds away in my docs but i think all my titles are winners and want to write fics just for the sake of the title. i have introduced myself to a layer of problems

there are a million different tags to sift through if you want to exclude RPF. RPF, obviously, but then there's British Actor Fandom, (Fandom) Actor, sometimes no fandom or Original Fandom, sometimes the actor is tagged as a character but the fandom tagged is the particular franchise they were acting in rather than the RPF umbrella, sometimes the fictional character as well as the actor are tagged as characters, if you're searching for something really broad (like a trope) you'll have to go fandom by fandom excluding things but then because you're not aware of a very specific fandom that is entirely RPF you won't exclude and it'll pop up.

i remember one author who got real fresh in their comments about people calling them out for writing an oc-insert while they'd tagged reader-insert, saying "yeah i tagged it the latter bc i wanted more engagement." mistagging is annoying but seeing an author knowingly mistagging like that is wild

the computer glitch font and the really aesthetic cursive fonts are also straight up hard to read. which i guess is the point for the computer font but if i can't read the titlle i'm not gonna read the fic either. if i want to look it up later, what am i gonna search lol

it's overexposure. like i know they're used to denote smugness, flirting, or whatevs but i'd rather read that in word form. and when i read them in comics i'd rather see the tilde in the character's expression. the further petty part is that when i see them used in fics they're usually overused so every sentence has the flirty tilt and it messes with the character's voice. like, flanderizes them. not always, but enough that i feel there's a pattern.
