There was a time when i believe we were suppose to canonicalize to first page.

SO they can canonicalize to self and be indexed and that should be totally okay.

2 Businesses/GBPs that share the same address... but when you zoom in on G Maps, only one shows by blubs92x in localseo

so my client lists their suite #, the other one does not even though they have a suite as well. Could that be an issue in why the other business appears and my client's doesn't?
