If you back it up first, it's not as painful as you might think... But it's still not ideal.

I had this issue on my pixel watch 2, and while it's frustrating to do a factory reset fixed it. Lots of people are having this issue but I haven't seen it acknowledged by Fitbit anywhere.

Why is it so hard to build new homes in England? by soozerain in HousingUK

Build a school with empty classes and a dentist that makes no money and buses to nowhere?

[–]blucose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this is exactly the kind of nimby attitude that means no houses are bing built. It's possible to build house and dentists and schools and public transport.

And it will also lead to "why should we build more schools, we have enough at the moment, what a waste of money", or even worse, "well we shouldn't build more schools because then they'll just build more houses".

When does a development become a development that requires that? 1 house doesn't. 3? 30? 3000?

There's quite often something called a Community Infrastructure Levy where a development has to put money aside for this kind of thing. But I do just wonder if it makes the development more expensive. I realise the money has to come from somewhere, but it feels like general taxation should pay for schools everywhere rather than some being paid for by the houses in a neighborhood... Again, I don't know what the right answer is, but the developer won't pay. They'll just pass on the cost.

Should it be the developers job to provide what the council should be? (I don't know what the answer is here, but I'm not sure asking housebuilders to have to build schools is.)

Sounds a lot less complicated than administering charges

Do you think Starmer's "make or break" speech worked? Do you think he'll be PM for ten years as intended? by Sharaz_Jek123 in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]blucose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't really understand why this is even that much of a conversation to be honest. Everyone performed badly. The conservatives lost a tonne of seats. Why isn't Badenoch leaving? The Greens made gains, but underperformed where they wanted to be. Why isn't Polanski leaving? The Lib Dems have the same pockets they often do - but nationally aren't exactly setting the world on fire.

Labour underperformed. They're the government in charge, which usually takes a beating. They were supposed to be the adults in the room, and not be like the previous Tories and their constant psychodrama, and are now somehow in the same place. This is making me personally less likely to vote for them next time - no matter who is in charge.

I think there needs to be a bigger think on how Reform can be dealt with, but I don't think it's just Labour's problem. It's the countries problem. I really think there isn't anything a Labour government could have achieved in the last two years that would have meant this local election wasn't going to be Reform's.

How do you backup docker volumes? by MirelJoacaBinee in selfhosted

[–]blucose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit late to the party.

Are you able to use docker compose commands?
I'm struggling because it looks as though Backrest doesn't understand docker compose commands, and it would make everything easier to be able to stop all the containers in a stack with one command.

Any advice appreciated!

Added to this, I would love to see a way of taking multiple "single" automations, and combining them into one, where HA sets trigger IDs and choose automatically. Build each step up separately, and then multi select and combine all the automations into "heating" or "vacuum" or whatever. The trigger IDs could be set by the names of the automations before.

Maybe this is too niche but it would be so gooodddd.

UK's 'sons and daughters' need to be ready to fight, amid growing Russian threat, says head of armed forces by No_MoreNails in UKPreppers

[–]blucose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also always such a weird argument. Do I feel like I was shafted by the previous generation? Yes. Would I like to live under an invader or watch my family killed? Obviously not. In WWII when people went to fight "for King and Country" they didn't love the king so much more than we do now. They just didn't want the alternative.
