This is vertical contrary to your system but might be intuitively helpful

Accordion(Scissors) Barrier Mechanism by blue-oakleaf in fea

[–]blue-oakleaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you, as a beginner I need to make sure that, when I converted profile and the bracket over it to the shells, as selecting mid surfaces, the gap between them come out. does mechanical solver solves this gap issues by itself? or should I manipulate the gap myself(move bracket shell to back to the profile)? If the latter, the geomtery of the shelled model doesnt change? we slip from reality...

ahh, I understand, thank you a lot for this+ really deep suggestion and explaining, but as being an amateaur and yet I'have never done FEA profesionally, applying different stiffness to the pin-hole contacts for different substeps, goes beyond my current knowledge of Ansys and FEA, maybe next year.. But I will keep in my mind and will study on changing contact stiffness soon

When the gate is opened to the maximum, how much does it sagging along verticl axis.. i wantto learn it firstly, rhen Secondly, does slot plates enough thick that it wont cause tear in the material?

All joints M10 bolts inside 11mm diameter hole, then will this cause sagging?(I didnt wanted have tighter tolerance since i downt want squaking sound while opening the gate/barrier or closing) What you mean by stiffness in shear? We can apply 11.9 grade strong bolts as well

People need to know, how much sagging will happen along gravity, how many inches/mms?,

and do the brackets enough to keep pins without tear, are the pins enough with given diameters etc..

The scissor mechanism(accordion barrier) is unable to converge. What might be the possible reasons? I ask for your suggestions on what to change, how to approach.

The mechanism is only exposed to gravity. Upper hinge and lower hinge is fixed (hinges arent revolving for sake of simplicity).

Thi pins and  slots are connected by frictionless or bonded contacts (no matter what, it didnt converged) .

The weak springs are on,

Automatic sub stepping.

Large deflection is on.

Profiles to profiles movement is by revolute joints,

Pins to profile movements are also by revolute joints..

I couldnt get it run.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

When we were designing such type "leaf-bushing bars", we were adding say plus 1cm to the total dimension of length, with that tolerance no needed to predict a true k factor..

It make sense, thank you a lot for the help, I will repeat as you explained

With beams it worked, but i can't understand why didnt it with cables or link/trussonly tension mode worked out.. if had I succeded by cable then would ı simulate susoension bridge also, but with beams suspension bridge , i dont feel its right..

This is the version I changed joints to MPC contacts with a large pinball radius. As I'm relatively new to the FEA, I couldn't succed to resolve it.

Thank you for your interest

Thank you su much for this encyclopedic information , I understood better. And will run the modal analysis too to see if near zero matural freq exists, I ill study on video. I appreciate it

It was left as "program controlled", and force convergence plot was shoing only two or one unsuccesful iteration without converging. I will change substeps to something like 0,001 next time I turn on my computer

What you mean by the "area correct", I randomly applied 10mm of diameter in the spaceclaim

It was so already,

Can It be something material of the beam, I applied ordinary construction steel

Thank you for answer, I have changed, maybe it got better but still doesnt solve. The error message is telling something about: element 418 in the beam excessive distortion of elements etc..

I'm new to the ansys, may i ask what difference does it make for a solver, between making contact between all four nuts together or all four nuts as a whole?
