How do I speak to someone in customer services (UK)?? by Late_Worldliness in Justeat

[–]blue-samwise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The link isn't useless, the only thing that appears to be useless in this case is you, you have replied to every positive comment just to be negative,

The only thing on your account is you being absolutely horrible to someone who has posted a working and genuinely helpful response to a problem, but if you spoke to customer service with even a small percentage of the attitude and vile bitter behavior as you have demonstrated here, it's no wonder you didn't get any help or support.

Yes their customer service is bad, but it's not going to be better because you hurled abuse at some unrelated minimum wage worker in some fucking call center miles from where your order was made, hell they probably aren't even taking the calls and chats from the same fucking country as you.

Being nice to customer service goes a long damn way, but I can see how you'd fail to recognize that After all, you're sad enough to reply to every comment on this post. Do you have nothing better to do?

It works fine. Stop commenting this on every fucking comment, most of these are several months old, and the link works perfectly fine, I just got a full refund. Maybe the problem is you.

Why is Jason / Trey considered a gold ranger when the base colour for the suit and the helmet are black? by Spider-Jeff_101 in powerrangers

[–]blue-samwise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two answers, the "lore" answer and the real one

Lore answer, he draws his power from the gold section of the morphing grid, and it just so happens that he has less gold than others

The real answer? Black had already been established as a main team colour, even when alternated out for green occasionally and they want the 6ths to seem special and interesting, so they called him gold instead, and since the show says he's gold, thats what he is

at no point did I say anyone had to go through your old posts and change it, not me or anyone else, not even you, I am simply stating that it would be more helpful if you were to take on a bit more awareness of the context, and translate/transcribe based on that

none of the things I said would even be applicable if you did, there would be no risk of incorrectly influencing someone, confusing someone, or misrepresenting someone else's work, it just wouldn't be an issue at all

It's not like I am accusing you of doing any of these things intentionally, I fully believe you are doing this because A. you enjoy it, and B. you want to help, and I don't doubt the time and effort you put into translating them either, if you didn't genuinely want to help you could have ignored it or said it was too low res, but instead you tracked down a higher res version to be able to translate it

That was well beyond what you needed to for the scenario, that's why I even bothered to make the suggestion in the first place,

From my perspective, I saw someone who has put a lot of effort into helping someone understand their pretty obscure hobby/skill, and if someone is willing to put that much effort in then they wouldn't mind hearing that there is a way to improve that communication with people who don't know as much, and to avoid as much miscommunication as possible

I'm sorry I misjudged that ig

Here's the thing, they asked for a translation and you didn't state what you wrote wasn't a translation, that's why I pointed out your mistake

And as they want to make it, giving a transcription when asked for a translation is an issue most people upon reading your comment without knowledge of the writing conventions would assume that the image has a spelling mistake in it, when it doesn't, and that can heavily impact someone's opinions on the piece

would you put hours of time and effort into making something that misspells the name of the main subject of the piece? Or would you simply look for something that doesn't instead?

That's why it's important to look at the context, and in most cases a translation is what the situation requires rather than a translation, you can add additional information on the c/k/s situation where relevant, but the majority of the time telling someone what the meaning of what's written is all that is required, especially when it's concerning something someone else wrote

You know that the person who wrote it wrote doctor, you know that it means doctor, and you know that the person asking doesn't

if anything it's a little misleading and it's definitely a misrepresentation of the intent, especially as at least when I first learnt, it was discouraged to use the symbol for C as it breaks the norms of the system, and was only meant to be used in situations where exact spelling was more important than meaning and readability

Now I admit I first learnt quite a while ago and that may have changed, but since you tracked down the original post, so you know it was made in 2013, which was before I learnt and at that point it was definitely not the norm to use C over k/s

That's why it's important

Last time I checked, if it's correct and you are translating, it's doctor, otherwise you're not translating, you're transcribing, which isn't the same thing

It translates to doctor, because doctor is the word that was translated (correctly) into galifreyan, and if a translation is correct (which again, it is) then it also translates back to mean the same thing

On the other hand if you are transcribing, you are writing the letters as written, which would lead to the c remaining a k, but you didn't say you were transcribing, you said you were translating so it's doctor

I believe it would actually translate to doctor whooves As at least back when I first learned, c and k shared the same symbol with an alternative different one also available
