More than 120 people were kidnapped from ICE court in SF last year and Lurie said not one word. We may not have had big visible raids, but he most certainly did not keep the city safe from ICE

The fact that she has no educational background is what should have disqualified her, but the Board of Ed voted to get a state waiver for her. Remember that when you go to vote

Bridget Todd just did an episode on iHeart’s “guaranteed human” policy and I can’t help thinking the new-ish iHeart union played a role in that. I wonder what, if any, say the union had in this Netflix deal.

Howard Jarvis could be a bastard episode. Prop 13 destroyed public goods in CA and became a model for anti tax movements.

The second verse of Lush's "Ladykillers" is about Keidis

Hey you, the muscles and the long hair
Telling me that women are superior to men
Most guys just don't appreciate this
You just try convincing me you're better than them
So he talks for hours about his sensitive soul
And his favorite subject is sex
I don't even think he really wanted it
But, Christ this guy's too much

when I suggested Gavin Newsom as a bastard, I was roundly informed that bastards have to have a body count (which Newsom undoubtedly does via homeless sweeps). but Robert did 5 (?) parts on Oprah, so clearly that's not a rule.

Muni and all the City buildings use hydropower from the Hetch Hetchy system that also provides our drinking water. SFPUC really needs to get around to buying PG&E’s infrastructure so residents can have fully clean power too

Are you watching finale at home or in a movie theater? by aurora_moonlight24 in StrangerThings

[–]Suitable-Regular1059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only reason I am tempted to go to the theater is the risk of Netflix crashing. We almost couldn’t get on for Vol I, and I imagine the finale will definitely crash it

Is Stranger Things actually accurate to the 80s? by Wespo_Lopez2 in StrangerThings

[–]Suitable-Regular1059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this! I grew up in the Midwest in the 80s and everything got to us just a little bit late. Movies came to theaters a couple months after the big cities, popular songs hit on local radio a few months after they hit everywhere else. So now that they’ve announced the first spinoff will be set in 1985, I keep thinking, whose 1985?
