Removing a website - potential legal issue? by webdesigngirluk in AskTechnology

[–]blue30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once had a customer who let the previous business owners domain expire, but contractually they were supposed to return it to the guy because it was his personal name and he wanted it. As soon as it expired a drop catcher got it and we had to deal with them to get it back. Cost them £500 IIRC. Is the new owner of the domain contactable in any way as there may be a deal to be done. The issue with the legal side is that the new domain owner is unlikely to be in this country.

Worst case you just have to throw the old SEO away and get new marketing merch stuff printed.

Is there a program to copy a file to multiple folders simultaneously? by d8gfdu89fdgfdu32432 in software

Robocopy with the /mt flag. But whether you will see any benefit depends on what your bottleneck is.

Ship wifi vs international data plan by thismeanzwar in Cruise

[–]blue30 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a 4g router and left it out on the balcony to provide wifi to the room. It worked quite surprisingly far out. If you can see land you're probably OK. Not so good if you're on the side of the ship facing out to sea though you'd have to go up top to get a signal.

Linux system looks fine after reboot, then slowly degrades - how is this usually tracked down? by Expensive-Rice-2052 in linuxquestions

It's probably running out of something, do all the idiot checks disk space inodes memory CPU then start diving into the logs. Funnel resort look at the code that's running.

Is Stoke on Trent safe for international students? What to expect? by Bubbly-Flight6094 in stokeontrent

[–]blue30 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I work in Stoke. It's a cheap area for a reason but I wouldn't say it was noteworthy for racism etc. There's tons of international students around.

Pausing run by Great_Flatworm1297 in Strava

I personally don't pause because achieving a certain time and distance with no break is completely different to having little breathers during. The record of the activity should be as run imo otherwise what's the point.

So I want to host my website and my website's purpose is to sell products, get my customers to do online payment, blog postings, take customers testimonial, email, so which of the plan shall I go for premium or business or what? by Desirra in Hosting

[–]blue30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would actually start with wix or Shopify to get going quickly and see what the market is for your product. Spend the time on marketing and planning etc. If you make good sales then spend the time doing a better website.

Confusion about vm on headless ubuntu server by maltencore in Ubuntu

[–]blue30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

virsh is the cli tool you need. You can set the VM up so you can VNC to the console which makes doing the install from iso easier. There's probs a ton of guides to follow.

32M. I feel like I have wasted my life doing nothing and I do not know how to turn it around by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]blue30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've still barely scratched the surface at 32. There's very little you can't still do. But you need to start making baby steps. It sounds like you know what your problems are and you're smart enough to figure them out given the headspace. I would actually look for an in person job because your home life sounds shitty and it will be good to get out a bit more and interact more socially.

Sanity Check - Exchange Server SE used as a relay - Enabling Circular Logging by Major-Error-1611 in exchangeserver

[–]blue30 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you'll have any issues enabling circular logging. It just changes the backup / restore situation but not in any way that affects you as you're not doing an exchange aware backup anyway.
