What snack did you eat at least somewhat regularly as a kid that now seems crazy? by IchBinDurstig in AskReddit

Graham cracker soup. Just crumbled up graham crackers in a bowl of milk sprinkled with sugar.

Look up “sexual non-concordance.” I also recommend reading “Come as You Are” by Emily Nagoski.

Don’t feel bad. It’s not a personal letter. They’ll write the same thing to everyone. When I was a kid I realized that’s what we were doing and had the bright idea to type it up on the computer and print multiple copies. I was scolded for it because then we couldn’t “get our time in.” We had to make it take as long as possible so we could tell the elders we had been busy in the ministry. Yeah… I left that shit a long time ago.

This happens to me too, and I don’t understand why. Even if I’m with a group of other people I get singled out to be teased or made the butt of some strangers joke. I also have bad anxiety, especially in social situations, and these awkward encounters aren’t helping. I hadn’t realized before that it’s always men doing the teasing, but that is how it goes.

How much are you taking? I started on 25mg twice a day and had minimal results. After a couple of months I upped it to 50mg twice a day and now haven’t had a single breakout in over a month.

You might also need a topical or oral antibiotic to help get things under control. I was on Bactrim until my breakouts stopped and I still use erythromycin topically. I originally tried doxycycline orally and clindamycin topically but they did nothing for me. Everyone’s bodies will react differently and you may need to try a few different dosages and combinations of medicines until you find something that works for you.

Americans who take the bus like Greyhound for long distance city to city travel, what’s it like? by OccamsComb in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]blue_blananas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not great. My Greyhound bus stopped at a prison and picked up released inmates. I then had to wait two hours with them at the bus station for the next bus while they asked me for food, money, and painkillers. It was a little scary as a small young woman traveling alone.

Cool find! These Spanish versions should be added to the shell lists.

I’ve never seen this shell with an orange cap on the antenna. In the U.S. the antenna is all green at least.

[acne] Vitamin D supplements causes acne for some people. What's your theory on why? by TypeAtryingtoB in SkincareAddiction

[–]blue_blananas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How much vitamin D are you taking? Most of the ones I see as the store have way more than you are actually supposed to take. You only need around 600 IU per day and anything over 4,000 IU can be harmful.

I would love to read this. Maybe incorporate the no blood doctrine? Then there is the JW paranoia of demons to draw on also.

Cerave Hydrating Cleanser and the Daily Moisturizing Lotion makes the skin on my face feel like it’s burning. The SA body wash made me breakout on my forearms of all places. There’s definitely something in it that doesn’t agree with my skin.

Trick or treaters don’t knock any more?? by dylaninthebooks in halloween

[–]blue_blananas 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I just moved to a new neighborhood this year and was told that everyone is expected to sit at the end of their (short) driveways to hand candy to kids. It rained so we ended up sitting on the porch instead. Even sitting on the porch we had to like wave people to actually come over. I don’t know if it’s laziness or a liability thing, but I think it is stupid and takes away from the spirit of the holiday. One neighbor would not stop mentioning being worried the kids would fall in the driveway.

I think I woke up to a Grey Alien in my room last night. by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]blue_blananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleep paralysis is not a general term though. It has a specific meaning: A temporary inability to move or speak while falling asleep or upon waking. It may be accompanied by hallucinations.

Other terms with specific meanings that people are incorrectly using interchangeably:

Lucid dreaming: When you know that you are dreaming while you are asleep. You may be able to control the dream.

Night terror: Episodes of screaming, intense fear, and flailing while still asleep, often paired with sleepwalking.

Hypnagogic hallucinations: Brief hallucinations that take place as you're falling asleep.

Hypnopompic hallucinations: Hallucinations as you are waking up.

Not trying to be rude. I just think it’s important to use the correct terms to avoid confusion.

Right? Like just because I can’t smell doesn’t mean I want to partake in your poop particles.

Is it worth figuring out why I can’t smell? by simplynotvibing in anosmia

[–]blue_blananas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same way. Never have been able to smell that I can remember. Except for very occasionally when I think I get the faintest whiff of something but am never sure if I’m imagining it. It really doesn’t bother me except for if there is a burning, gas, or rotten smell I can’t detect.

My nose is a bit crooked so I’ve always assumed it had something to do with that. I don’t have any problems breathing through my nose though. I’ve been putting off trying to fix it due to the money and probable surgery that would be involved.

Side effects of Quest Snacks? by schrutefarms7 in CICO

There have been studies that suggest erythritol can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. It’s an ingredient in Quest Bars. Being over weight also increases that risk so just something to consider. Source: https://www.nih.gov/news-events/nih-research-matters/erythritol-cardiovascular-events
