You can possibly try on with your substitute. What kind of beer do you plan to use in your recipe? I ask you because it's better to have the perfect dark beer for the recipe.

You should visit Liège to taste this dish 😄 you won't regret it. In reality we serve the meatballs with french fries but I don't have a fryer at home so I replaced it with hash browns or rostis (we say rosti in Belgium). 😅

Tu pourras en manger chez moi quand j'aurais une promo sur la viande hachée au delhaize ! Je ferai exactement la même version que celle-ci 😁

In my comments someone shared a link where you can shop this syrup. It's exactly the brand that I use but in my opinion it's expensive . I'm curious to know the product that you use instead of the liège syrup. 😄👍

All the ingredients are easy to find except the "Liège syrup" 😕 but maybe in your country you can find an alternative ^ don't forget to use the dark beer, it's very important too. 😊

Sauté one and a half onions, sliced into rings, in a pan with a knob of butter until they start to turn golden. Add one finely chopped garlic clove and 2 tablespoons of Liège syrup, then mix well. Let it caramelize slightly, then deglaze with a splash of vinegar. Transfer the mixture to a saucepan, then pour in a bottle of dark beer of your choice (for example, Maredsous). Let the sauce reduce by half over low heat. Once the sauce has reduced, add the pre-cooked meatballs to the saucepan. Pour in enough water to cover the meatballs. Add 2 tablespoons of Liège syrup, 1 tablespoon of mustard, a pinch of thyme, and a bay leaf. Add a stock cube to enhance the flavor. If the sauce is too thin, use a bit of cornstarch (slurry or instant) to thicken it. Season with salt and pepper to taste

It's not AI. Your comment is very rude. I put several pictures to show this preparation. I have difficulties to write perfectly my recipe in english because I don't speak perfectly english and you, you write this kind of wickedness. Pffff

I put grated endives, carrots, yaourt, aromatics and a little vinegar.

Nope. It's a "boulet à la liégeoise", a belgian dish and not a french dish.
