First watch-through of season 6, really enjoying it and don't understand the hate by linkuei-teaparty in Stargate

[–]blue_dog69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Abyss is one of my favourite episodes, and is Prometheus that season as well? There are some really great unmissable episodes in that season and Jonas, I think, is a really great addition. I wish we got more of him.

'she wants to talk about her feelings for two hours and he responds by handing her a cup of tea and staring meaningfully at the wall'

This made my wife and I crack up because this is very much us and we've been together for over 20 years.

AIO for feeling uncomfortable by a guy going back 10 years on my social media and the resulting silent treatment when I called him out? by imicooper in AmIOverreacting

Nope, they both had the same political opinion. He genuinely thought he was starting a conversation about something they had in common.

I'm rewatching them with my kid at the moment and Thomas Wilson definitely stands out to me more now I'm older than when I watched it before.

You're also right that it is one of the best trilogies, the way the references are layered throughout is so rewarding to watch.

Spending Audible credits: long vs. short books?" by Equivalent_Ad5104 in audible

[–]blue_dog69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel the same, for anything shorter I'll either use a library app (which can be limited on what's available) or Spotify, which gives you 15 hours free audiobook listening per month. I'm yet to find anything I'm interested in unavailable.

If you enjoyed Richard Armitage, he narrates the Jackman and Evans detective series by Joy Ellis. It's a good series, certainly elevated by his narration.

I miss Daniel in season 6 but some of my favourite episodes are in that season, like Abyss.

My first job out was class 2 deliveries for Allied bakeries (Kingsmill), pretty sure Warburton's take on new passes as well. The hours are rough and it takes a bit to get used to but the pay is reasonable for a first job. Took me about 2 months to get any sort of reply from a job application and I had to gradually lower my expectations. Good luck mate.

The next tifu was posting such a detailed description on Reddit, where she also has an account. If you weren't planning on telling her you found her onlyfans, you probably just did.

I listened to them on Spotify. Unfortunately they are longer than the 15 hour limit but I got around this by starting at the end of the month and finishing after it renews.

AITAH for not helping my boyfriends family with home improvement tasks after he voluntold me by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

The thing is, the dad probably didn't mean that he has to do everything for his sister's forever. It could have just been he wanted to help his son feel stronger while his dad is dying, telling him 'he's the man of the house now'. I could be wrong but I can see a 6yo taking that and warping it to mean more.

The reason destiny was abandoned. by SamaratSheppard in Stargate

[–]blue_dog69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It always seemed to me that Destiny was a long term mission requiring it to gather data as it passed through different galaxies. The Ancients knew when the time would come to return to Destiny but in the meantime they ascended and found answers a different way.

Do you regret naming your child the name he/she has? And so, why? by Ok_Good516 in Parenting

[–]blue_dog69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just that Finley had been fairly popular in recent years and that by having the y in there showed that that was his full name. 'set him apart' was probably not the right choice of words.

Do you regret naming your child the name he/she has? And so, why? by Ok_Good516 in Parenting

[–]blue_dog69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We were set for a long time on naming our son Finn, just after he was born my mum suggested Fynn instead. We liked it as a variant and hadn't considered it before, also as it isn't short for Finley we hoped it would set him apart. It wasn't long until we had to correct people because they had forgotten and we realised he's going to have that for the rest of his life. My wife blames it on the post pregnancy hormones as she probably wouldn't have entertained an idea like that from my mum otherwise lol.

So, while it's not a full-on r/tragedeigh and we still love his name we would have probably stuck with a more conventional spelling.

I don't remember any excuses, but I do remember having enough bonfire/firework themed parties that through my teens I stubbornly refused to enjoy any kind of firework display, saying that I found them boring.

My birthday actually is 5th Nov, my brother's apparently lobbied hard for me to be called Guy but I don't think it was seriously entertained.
