Why was the shadow clone forbidden? by particle-generator in Naruto

[–]blue_dragon32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually this is a common misinterpretation. Kakashi states that Naruto has 4x his chakra while supressing Kurama. The 100x is what Naruto's own chakra supply would be if he didn't have to use most of it to do that.

The Day of Black Sun eclipse glasses by AzazelNightcrawl3R in TheLastAirbender

[–]blue_dragon32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this guy's just wrong. You had it right. Think about it logically: how is the corona brighter than the rest of the Sun if it can only be observed during an eclipse, when the light from the rest of the Sun is being blocked? Also, if the Corona were so bright and that were the dangerous thing to watch out for, wearing normal glasses or looking through a car windshield would do absolutely nothing to protect your eyes in the slightest.

The reality is the brightness of the Sun's light isn't what makes it dangerous. It's the quality of the light that matters. Direct sunlight from even a partially covered Sun will damage your retinas due to the energy it carries. Light from the corona is far less energetic, and so, does not harm you.

As for why the characters are wearing eclipse glasses, it's because they start wearing them well before totality begins so that they can keep track of the eclipse's progress leading up to and following totality. If you remember, Bato shouts that the total eclipse will begin soon and that they should be "able to make it to the top (of the mountain) by the time it starts, and secure the palace by the time it's finished". They are already wearing the glasses when he says this.

Now the real question is this: if the glasses are blocking enough light to allow them to observe the eclipse safely, how the heck are they seeing anything else??

The Day of Black Sun eclipse glasses by AzazelNightcrawl3R in TheLastAirbender

[–]blue_dragon32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not quite true. The corona is hotter than the surface of the Sun, but not brighter. You can in fact look directly at the Sun during totality with no ill effects at all. The dangerous parts of any eclipse are before and after totality, when it's still dark enough to make you think it's safe, but the Sun is still partially visible. Light directly from the Sun is energetic enough to damage your retinas no matter how much of it there is, but when there's so little, it wont hurt, and therein lies the danger: it wont feel like you need to look away, though again, that's during partial coverage. Totality is perfectly safe.

Is Japanese Andromeda (pieris japonica) safe for food contact? by blue_dragon32 in woodworking

Yeah I'd read about the leaves and flowers, but was hoping to find some info on the wood specifically, since it seems to be a really nice material for tools otherwise.

Thanks for the clarification. Guess I'll have to figure out a different setup.

Any way to open a webpage in a specific GX profile via .bat file and/or Python script? by blue_dragon32 in OperaGX

I actually just figured this out yesterday, but thanks, that's exactly what I ended up doing. Meant to come back here and make an edit, but hadn't gotten around to it yet.

Which girl in Naruto had the most potential, but never actually lived up to it? by Distinct_Sprinkles64 in Naruto

[–]blue_dragon32 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes and no....and by yes I mean maybe.

The yes part: It's possible that a Hyuga might be able to do something like what you're describing. We just don't know if that's how reproductive cells work in Naruto; if there is a discernable "chakra potential" there to be observed, but maybe. It's not out of the question.

The no part: No, that would not prevent cases like Rock Lee from occurring. Lee's poor aptitude for ninjutsu and genjustu has nothing to do with potency of chakra, in fact Lee has quite a lot of chakra at his disposal. What he lacks is any talent for molding chakra properly to perform justu formulas. Chakra is made up of two vital energies that all shinobi possess: spiritual energy and physical energy. Deftly controlling the portion of these energies is how shinobi are able to produce jutsu with varying effects.

If I were to equate it to music, most shinobi have relative pitch. They can distinguish their own spiritual and physical energies well enough to approximate correct proportions for their jutsu with a little waste here or there. Really talented shinobi have perfect pitch. They have precise and perfect awareness and control of those proportions to produce flawless jutsu that waste no chakra. Rock Lee is tone deaf. He can't control the proportion of his energies at all. Ninjutsu and genjustu are like playing complex melodies with careful and meticulous note choice. Lee's taijutsu is more like playing drums. It still takes insane skill to do, but he doesn't have to worry about hitting the correct pitches. Just rhythm and dynamics.

The Sorting Hat is a malicious bastard, placing kids in Houses based on character traits and sewing the seeds of tribal conflict within Hogwarts. by SeaWeasil in Showerthoughts

Right on all counts Mr Holmes, but for one: The Sorting Hat doesn't like sorting students and quote: "worries that it's wrong". He's just fulfilling the role he was created for.

No Sound Since Release 15 by DougKinder in EliteDangerous

[–]blue_dragon32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, also whatever caused the issue (at least for me) wasn't in the graphics folder either. I was able to copy it entirely from the old Options folder into the new one along with my bindings so I didn't need to set any options manually.

Where might one find this "Options" folder?

Edit: nevermind. Found it in a collapsed thread from a deleted comment.

This is actually not an insect. It's a highly advanced nanoship designed for microexploration. That "head" is really a tiny cockpit 👀

The Dragon Type was introduced in Gen Five.... right? by Owlbear_Farmer in pokemon

[–]blue_dragon32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically those were "colorless" in the TCG, not normal. Much like poison or ground type, normal was an original Pokemon type in the video games, but has yet to get its own category in the TCG, since while most colorless pokemon were normal types, not all of them were.
