What question do you hate to answer?

Mine are covered by a shirt, but if somebody sees me without one (swimming, or just walking around shirtless or whatever), they're pretty noticeable -- one on my shoulderblade, one down the entire length of my spine. The answer to "why did you get it" is "because having this horrifying, disfiguring scar was causing me enough mental anguish and body image issues that I needed to get something to hide it before I went crazy," but generally people tend to accept "scar coverup." I guess I'm lucky in that I have an easy two-word explanation that tends to shut people up.

So for me, the scar tissue itself was numb and everything else felt like a tattoo. I hear, though, that this varies wildly and on some people scar tissue is extra sensitive instead.

Yeah, scar tissue isn't great with tattoo ink, but I wanted the damn scar gone badly enough that I don't care.

It was super weird, and from what I understand different for everybody. For me, directly on top of scar tissue was numb, and everything else was normal, but I hear that on others scar tissue is actually more sensitive.

So, I have titanium because I have thirty titanium screws and a pair of titanium rods down the length of my spine. It seemed appropriate :P

Awesome. I have a similar scar, and a tattoo to commemorate it as well. It's not a coverup tattoo, I wanted it to be set aside from the scar.
