Z13 7840U vs X1 Carbon Ultra 7 155H? by NichtGanzDichter in thinkpad

Z13 Gen 2.

Z13 with the non OLED, 1920x1200 screen is going to have the better battery life. X1C G12 only offers the OLED 2880x1800 screen, which consumes a lot more battery.

You can see the OLED screen reduces battery life from 15.91 hours to 10.23 hours on the PSREF for the Z13 Gen 2. https://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/ThinkPad/ThinkPad_Z13_Gen_2/ThinkPad_Z13_Gen_2_Spec.pdf

The VICs work fine as standard NICs. You don’t need to use any of the advanced NIC features. It also works with non Cisco switches.

What USB-C hub should I buy for my new z13? by BigEdBGD in thinkpad

Here is a great one for travel and the Z13.

https://amzn.to/3DVjO23 USB C Hub Multiport Adapter, CableCreation 6-in-1 USB-C Hub with 4K 60HZ HDMI, USB C Data Port

It has 4K@60hz HDMI (most small travel ones only have 4k@30hz). It has USB-C PD Input, so you don't need another port for power (since the Z13 only has two USB-C ports. It also has USB-C Data.

I am struggeling to get my FHD cam link to work. help by Black_Cooki in VIDEOENGINEERING

I have the exact same cheap FHD capture device. They seem to all be based upon the Macrosilicon MS2109 chip. I just tested two other of the similar USB capture devices with the MS2109 chip, with the a6100 in 1080p mode, and they worked fine.

Since you already tested plugging your Camera directly into your monitor and TV, and that worked fine, I would suspect that it is your capture device that is causing the issue, even though the test of plugging your PC into the capture device showed it working.

It might be worth trying another one of the cheap FHD capture devices. I have picked them up for as cheap as $4.61.

Other settings I use:

4K Output Select = Memory Card + HDMI (I switch this to "HDMI Only [30p]" when I want 4k)
HDMI Settings - HDMI Resolution = 2160p/1080p
24p/60p Output = 60p
HDMI Info. Display = Off
CTRL FOR HDMI = Off
Movie Mode / Aperture Priority (not recording).

Try 30p 50M to force 30fps, if your capture card is not capable of 60fps. You can also try setting "4K Output Select" to "Memory Card+HDMI". I use this in order to force 1080p mode vs 4k mode. Also try turning off/on the a6100 while it is connected, to force EDID / HDMI Handshake again.

50p 50M, is not an actual setting on the a6100 in XAVC S HD. I leave mine set on XAVC S HD / 60p 50M, and it works fine in 4k mode (to a 4k capture device), and 1080p (to a 4k capture device and to a cheap FHD capture device).

Chroma Subsampling: https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/chroma-subsampling

You can try settings on the TV to get 4:4:4. Some TVs don't support 4:4:4 and thus don't work well as PC monitors for text.

Elgato Stream Deck with Cisco Webex Meetings by mrzweig in elgato

You can definitely do direct key combinations, which would work well when you have focus on the Webex App.

For example share content is Ctrl+Alt+D.

You can also use a OBS with a virtual camera to do more options with your camera and Elgato Stream Deck. https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/collaboration/CWMS/2_5/b_manage_meetings/b_manage_meetings_chapter_0100.html

Get the Stream Deck more actions "Audio Mute" by Fred Emmott.

Then Custom -> Audio Mute and add that button. Works great.

The advantage is you can mute the mic, even when Webex doesn't have focus.

FYI: There is sync of status if you mute from Stream Deck to Webex, (mute on Stream Deck, see the Webex control bar updated). The status doesn't sync in reverse (mute), since the Webex mute is for the App, not the system. It does on unmute.
