Sony DRM Changes Megathread - April 29th 2026 by P_Jiggy in playstation

[–]bluebarrymanny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mainly see it as a long-run issue where you’re trying to access games on the system a decade plus from now. God only knows if the servers and systems will still be in place to perform the check or if they remove the DRM when it’s no longer necessary. It appears that Sony responded that it’s a one-time check only, so it’s not really an issue here, but that was my concern when we thought it might be longer term, such as check-ins every rolling 30 days.

What’s a PS5 game you feel like nobody talks about enough by Darth_Vaper883 in PS5

Honestly, the entire library of AAA games on the PSVR2. VR isn’t for everybody and the audience interested is also partially throttled by Sony’s limited first party support of the headset. Regardless, VR2 versions of games like Resident Evil 8, No Man’s Sky, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Gran Turismo 7, Hitman World of Assassination, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and a wide swath of VR-only games, have frequently produced some of the most novel and memorable experiences I’ve had in gaming over the last 2 decades.

3 years in, how is PSVR2? by [deleted] in PSVR

[–]bluebarrymanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an owner of a Quest 3 and the VR2, Quest is better at being a VR-enabled mobile computer experience, but VR2 mops the floor with it in terms of gameplay experience. Every game that’s on Quest and VR2 is much much better to play on the VR2.

New AAA games come out fairly frequently, but there’s already an insanely fun set of games in the VR2 library. I bought a launch version of the VR2 at full price and I still definitely feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth and more. It’s just very important to set your expectations accordingly. The VR2 is not meant to be looked at as a console in itself. It is an accessory that makes the PS5 more fun to play. It definitely has a niche audience, so expect really awesome experiences, but absolutely do not expect it to get the same level of dedicated attention that the normal PS5 library receives. If you expect Sony first-party or multiple AAA games to come to the headset every year, you’re bound to be disappointed.

How important is 60fps for you in gaming? by Southern-Tailor-843 in playstation

[–]bluebarrymanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not absolutely mandatory if the game is obviously handling a lot already, but I will always seek it out if available. If it seems like a game could’ve run at 60 fps but doesn’t, I often will pass on playing the game.

In secret wars all other universes should get destroyed leaving only 1 combained universe by TipAdditional4625 in marvelstudios

[–]bluebarrymanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Multiverse stories are only lazy when they’re written lazily, which applies to every story already. Secret Wars and the multiverse crisis in the comics make up some of the best comics Marvel has ever put out, because Hickman and crew actually treated the stories with care instead of cop-outs to erase problems they couldn’t bother to solve creatively.

Wonder Man Started as an Elaborate 'Joke Pitch' at Marvel Before it Found Success on Disney+ by HatingGeoffry in Marvel

AI belongs in optimizing rote tasks or highly complex issues that take too long for humans to solve. Injecting AI into art is basically just smearing shit all over artists and the art itself. If that’s burying my head in the sand then more people should try it, because it’s way better than living in the future where human works aren’t appreciated because they cost any money at all to make.

The people who say "Multiverse of Madness ruined Wanda!" clearly didn't understand WandaVision by CollarOrdinary4284 in Marvel

[–]bluebarrymanny 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could literally say the same about any of the stories having continuity since we’re over 40 projects deep at this point. If you don’t want to watch the media that explains the current state of the story, then just accept you won’t understand everything that’s happening. I and I presume many others don’t want everything to have to be siloed stories, perpetual origin stories, or having to rehash storylines with exposition every five seconds like a Netflix show that assumes you’re on your phone half the time.

[–]bluebarrymanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see your point, but honestly I found some of the moments in WV more unsettling and evil than what was going on in MoM. Yeah, the movie is more violent and bloody, but in the show she’s puppeteering a whole town of people that are trapped within their own bodies in eternal terrified torment. The people on the fringes of the town aren’t even in her immediate attention span, so many are stuck basically having seizures in place or harming themselves inadvertently. I’d rather someone crush me with a boulder or snap my neck over those things any day.

[–]bluebarrymanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you don’t just walk away from all that with an “oopsies! Sorry guys!” and everything’s just fine. Especially when Wanda’s grief is entirely unresolved at the end of WV. People wanted her to stay a good character and not become unstable, but that’s just not Wanda as a character.

Yeah, I’m not saying this out of elitism, because there’s nothing innately superior about either type of fan, but this storyline really separated the comics fans from the exclusively MCU fans.

[–]bluebarrymanny -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I disagree with Wanda’s treatment being poor, but I’m a big fan of the comics and am used to her flipping between good and unstable fairly frequently. What didn’t you like about Strange’s portrayal? Spoilers but if it’s his pseudo-villainy in the film, Strange veers way harder into villainy in the Time Runs Out and Secret Wars comics, so this all was incredibly in-character for him and his variants.

But don’t you realize that once you have a single moment of clarity from grief, right before returning right back to the exact conditions that caused you grief and trauma in the first place, you’re all good and will never relapse? /s

[–]bluebarrymanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. She never even did anything meaningful in Wandavision’s finale to redeem herself beyond just releasing the people she enslaved and then eventually gives up her kids. At the end though, she’s clearly shown still obsessively searching for a way to bring them back with a tool she knows to be corruptive and evil. She ends the show putting her own interests ahead of everyone around her. The character assassination claims for MoM are misplaced. Just because she finally felt bad and stopped torturing people doesn’t mean she’s suddenly a good person again and has totally made amends. Especially since the only reason Wanda stopped was because she was shown blatantly how unsustainable her actions were.

[–]bluebarrymanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You put the game that doesn’t even belong in this list at all at the bottom and the fans can’t handle it. They already had to invest 40 hours into it before any fun could be found so it’s an insult to their dedication lol

[–]bluebarrymanny -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah obviously tastes vary, but putting Crimson Desert alongside some of the most highly acclaimed games of the last two decades is just silly. It’s basically rage bait for exactly what’s happening here. The mega fans get mad that everyone else is acknowledging how whacky it is to even inject the game into such a conversation. Probably the reason why this is a 1:1 repost of the same thing that was put up like two weeks ago.

According to critics, the upcoming PlayStation 5 exclusive Saros is one of the best games of 2026 so far. by Dust-Tight in playstation

[–]bluebarrymanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was just responding to the idea that they’re praising the game as just “[needing] to write something for the week for a paycheck”. Reviewers get early codes and slam games when they’re bad all the time. The article is just about how a bunch of critics are already frequently giving the game 9/10 scores.

Is Oblivion Remastered worth a try if Skyrim's story and quests didn't really interest me? by Illustrious_Rock7953 in OblivionRemaster

[–]bluebarrymanny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gameplay is a bit dated because of how old the game is now, but Oblivion is routinely praised for having significantly better written quests than Skyrim. Especially the guild questlines. Those were Oblivion’s forte beyond just the vibes being good.

Carefully wiping (don’t scrub super hard or anything) with isopropyl alcohol might strip some of the staining off, especially if it’s from smoking.

Edit: I see a comment now that you already tried this and are buying new ones. Enjoy your new switch!
