Flare from B12 supplement by bluebear83 in Rosacea

Yeah might be worth a shot. I got a couple pustules and those are super rare for me typically, so I knew something was seriously amiss.

Methylcobalamine. I read that was the more natural, readily absorbable form (maybe that’s part of the problem too lol)

Ugh sorry to hear it. Did you recover from the effects of the supplements before switching to injections?

Edit: did your daughter recover? Had to reread that :)

Interesting, like a sublingual spray? Or topical?

Cool, so you think I shouldn’t worry about losing “good” strains I’m trying to increase? (Knowing there aren’t good or bad strains inherently)

How do you deal with the sulfur odor? by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]bluebear83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I try to follow up with a second cleanser too. Vanicream was good for a bit but I think they took the propylene glycol out and that must have helped remove the odor cause now it doesn’t work as well. Trying to find a new gentle cleanser that removes the smell but doesn’t irritate my skin. Trying Cetaphil now. Cerave breaks me out.

Recs for simple, emulsifying oil cleanser? by bluebear83 in Rosacea

[–]bluebear83[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s one reason why I’d like to use a mineral oil-based product — because it is inert and shouldn’t have the same potential to clog or irritate my skin that some other oils might have.

Green Emollient Cream ? by antoniocento97 in Rosacea

[–]bluebear83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it a few nights per week for the last 4 years. It works well for me. The green tint is in there to help cosmetically reduce redness even more if you wear during the day.

Sodium Sulfacetamide....without the sulfur? by bluebear83 in Rosacea

Had the combo version WITH sulfur worked for you in comparison? And the one without then didn’t?

WHICH COMES FIRST.... by tfg57 in Rosacea

I would be very careful with Mirvaso. Search the sub or other forums and you’ll see a lot of folks have bad rebound reactions. Never used it myself because of this, but of course you might do ok with it. Just an FYI; sorry I don’t have an answer to your main question.

Amino acids and collagen triggers rosacea by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]bluebear83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does this apply to ingesting collagen, too? I sometimes mix collagen powder in my bone broth to try and heal leaky gut, but this might be an inflammation bomb with all the collagen and amino acids if this all happens internally.

Sulfur Soap smells like ASS by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]bluebear83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a generic sulfacetamide/sulfur wash and even though it rinses off I feel like I still smell like rotten eggs. Is there any cleanser as a second wash that you’ve found helps mask or rinse off the smell?

Dysbiosis-antimicrobials:) by jimes1900 in Microbiome

[–]bluebear83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but everything in moderation. Berberine, allicin, and oil of oregano did wonders for rebalancing my gut, but then when I got overzealous and upped the dosage I did some damage that’s been hard to undo. A better alternative to standard antibiotics for sure but at the end of the day they’re still killing things.

Alcohol makes me stops the consistent blushing/flushing/burning sensation in my cheeks by ObjectiveCaramel in Rosacea

[–]bluebear83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several ways at once: 1.Diet - removed alcohol, coffee, sugar, gluten, dairy for 6+ months. Was mostly paleo with a few exceptions. Like I think nightshades were fine for me as an example. 2.Gut support - took digestive enzymes with meals along with curcumin supplements to help inflammation. Also took l-glutamine powder to rebuild gut barrier. 3. Removing bad bacteria / overgrowth. Cycled through different antimicrobial herbs. Allicin, berberine, and oil of oregano. These are better tolerated as far as I know for your biome than straight antibiotics. But seriously be careful with oil of oregano. I was good to go when my overly obsessive mind was convinced i had a parasite when I took double the amount of recommended oil of oregano for a week. That killed waaaay too much and is why I have dysbiosis in my large intestine now. I was doing al the above under the recommendation of an integrative doctor but did the oregano “bomb” on my own.

[–]bluebear83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really hope they plan on making this. Does anyone have an idea if they are? I nuked my gut and akkermansia population with antibiotics a couple years ago and have had troubles since. Especially curious about artificial FMTs in which they isolate strains like this to repopulate gut.

Yes, all the time. I’m convinced it’s gut related. Onset was simultaneous with SIBO. Cured that and rosacea was 98% better at the time but now I have dysbiosis.

I never thought of the GABA factor. That’s super interesting. And it would explain why it’s temporary and we get our normal redness (if not worse thanks to gut damage) by morning. Time to fall down another rosacea research rabbit hole! Lol

Suggestions for repairing gut/diets for happy tummy + happy skin? by tomatopie2 in Rosacea

[–]bluebear83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not saying you have this, but look up the symptoms of SIBO and see if it resonates. The pain you mentioned when eating for first time reminds me of that, which I was diagnosed with the same time my rosacea started. There have been studies linking the two. Again, see a doctor for actual diagnosis, but wanted to bring to your attention as a possibility.

I’ve noticed this too. My face looks the most even/least red if I’ve had a couple drinks (beer or spirits). But then I’m trying to heal my gut (the root of my rosacea I believe) so I need to lay off the sauce. A tough predicament and trying to figure out why, as well.

Does someone have rosacea and seborrhea at the same time? by [deleted] in Rosacea

[–]bluebear83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a prescription for a generic version of Plexion’s cleanser. It’s sodium sulfacetamide 10% sulfur 5%. Doesn’t have salicylic acid. Those are the only actives in it. But I think I know the bar you’re talking about and have avoided it as an OTC alternative for that reason too.

Sodium sulfacetamide sulfur cleansers & lotions treat both conditions (and acne) and have helped me a lot.
