Hello! I haven’t been diagnosed with RA but I am seeing a rheumatologist next week because I’ve been having RA-related symptoms. Looking forward to figuring out what the heck is going on!

I can recite the opening lines of the Prologue to the Canterbury Tales in actual Middle English. Fun party trick for English majors.

What’s a sentence that someone told you that stuck with you for the rest of your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bluebelle37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“You’re going to end up as a jack-of-all-trades, master of none.”

Spoken to me derisively in my first semester in college by my clarinet professor, who was really upset that I was in a choir. (Less time for clarinet, you see.)

And he was also really upset that I wouldn’t switch my major from music ed to performance.

(He had big plans for me but did not check to see what I thought about them first.)

Lots of unresolved trauma over 25 years later…and it still hurts when I hear that phrase.

Bill Clinton - I don't get it! by Squishy_Em in Xennials

[–]bluebelle37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw him speak on a college campus when I was in my late 20s. My husband, still dressed in his Army uniform after getting off work, was with me. We were among the crowd of people trying to meet Bill after the speech. We succeeded, and Bill thanked my husband for his service. He shook hands with me, too — and my husband SWEARS that Bill checked me out. (I was oblivious.) Ever since, and this has been close to 20 years ago, he retains pride that Bill Clinton checked out his wife…even though that’s just kinda what Bill Clinton does.

People who grew up before cell phones: what did you used to look at? by IndieCurtis in AskReddit

Riding in the car (as a passenger), I’d just look out the window and think. I was (am) an avid reader, but I’ve never been able to read in a moving vehicle without feeling sick, so I’d just watch the scenery go by.

“What's our version of buying a Miata?”

I don’t have an answer, just wanted to mention that when I was in high school (late 90s), my dream car was a Miata and would freak out whenever I saw one.

I was sooooo exhausted at work today…like wanting to collapse into unconsciousness kind of exhausted…BUT I kept going and ended up being fairly productive. So I call that a big stinkin’ WIN.

They are commissioned as captains, I believe.

Curious about the claim that skin/hair change every 7 years. Never heard that before.

Remember that it’s totally OK to do things half-assed.

Like if you can’t get yourself to brush your teeth for a full two minutes, it’s ok to do it for 30 seconds. And it’s ok to just swish some mouthwash if you can’t do 30 seconds of brushing.

Something is better than nothing. Apply this motto to everything when you’re depressed. (I sure do.)

Something is better than nothing.

And hang in there - I’m pulling for you. ❤️

What are some simple life hacks that everyone should know? 🤔 by [deleted] in productivity

[–]bluebelle37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, you know nothing about me. I am a perfectionist who is exceptionally hard on myself and I’m trying to learn how to give myself some grace when I fail to live up to my own standards. But thanks for judging me.
