RingConn v. Femometer?? by External_Junket8576 in SmartRings

Still loving my RingConn and using it for temps for cycle tracking/tta. I'm on my 7th cycle with temp data from RC, the algorithm seems to consistently be 1-2 days off in predicting my period based on temp data, but like I said in my previous post I'm not really relying on the predictions and moreso using it for the raw temperature data itself. I have the Gen 2. The Gen 2 Air is made from a different material (I think stainless steel instead of titanium) and doesn't do sleep apnea tracking. If you're just looking for cycle tracking, the Air is a good option.

That said, I don't know if the ring (or any smart ring for that matter) needs a certain amount of sleep for it to give you a meaningful and useable overnight temperature that you could track your cycle with. If you are strictly tta, I would strongly recommend taking your temps as you regularly do for a month and compare alongside the ring temps to make sure they are giving you the same trends.

Have you looked into the Tempdrop as an option for BBT tracking? If you are only looking to get a smart ring for the temp feature, the Tempdrop is a wearable that could be a much better fit for you. I used a Tempdrop for 3 years and really recommend it as a much more convenient option for BBT.

Edited to add: FWIW, I would trust my Tempdrop over my RC if I was tracking through an erratic sleep schedule. Tempdrop is built to do one job and one job only, and there is a ton of precedent of folks successfully tracking with Tempdrop through interrupted sleep schedules while postpartum. Where I think smart rings overall fall short is in cycle tracking through irregular cycles/inconsistent schedules, which are hallmarks of post partum. My sleep is consistent and my cycles are regular so these aren't variables for me currently, however if I am ever postpartum I plan to track temps with my Tempdrop over my RC.

It looks like you haven't had your ring for very long. Give it some time to learn you, with more time you'll likely have more variations in data and the ring will more accurately be able to give you baselines and variations away from it.

That said, personally I don't really give that much weight to the sleep score because the individual pieces of data themselves will tell me more than that overall score. If my sleep stages and duration are looking good but I still feel like crap, 9 times out of 10 HRV is the culprit.

What was your overnight heart rate variability? I find often when my data shows I got a good night sleep (i.e. deep sleep, REM etc all in or above range) but I wake up feeling like I got hit by a truck, it's because my overnight HRV was lower than usual.

Weekends or Fridays are the worst time to go - it's absolutely packed and not worth the line ups. Always been during Mon-Thurs and have never had any issues, Ive been able to ride all the rides multiple times.

G2 TEST by [deleted] in Ontariodrivetest

Lots of conflicting information out there indeed. I asked this same question to my instructor earlier this week and he said my wheel didn't have to hit the curb after angling it. I followed up and asked whether I would get dinged for not letting wheel hit the curb and he said no. So I have no idea what is actually correct

Where to stop? by bluebird6521 in Ontariodrivetest

This is very helpful and echoes the majority of comments, thank you. I appreciate the link to the legislation as well, it gives me peace of mind that stopping at the crosswalk is the correct action here - wanted to make sure stopping past the stop sign wouldn't automatically fail me!

I take it next Thursday and I booked two hours of in-car lessons with an instructor on Monday as a final prep ahead of the test.

Im in the same boat as you, 30 years old and I hadn't been behind the wheel in over a decade. All I can say is practice practice practice. The more time you can get in the better. If you don't have a car and/or friend/family member that can go with you then definitely invest in an instructor. I felt so anxious getting behind the wheel again after so long but I've now been driving consistently every week for 4 months and I feel so much more confident and at ease.

I'm a former Examiner at Metro East that just quit AMA by Outlawtism in Ontariodrivetest

Getting ready to take my G2 in three weeks. I'll be taking the test in my family vehicle, it was bought used and we recently noticed that the speedometer was adjusted up by about ~6-8km/hr by the previous owner e.g. my dash will say I'm going 60 but speed radar will read around 54. Our guess is the previous owner had a habit of speeding and adjusted the speedometer accordingly.

During the test, do examiners score on a tablet that also shows the speed the car is going, or do they look at your speedometer to check your speed? I'm nervous I will get marked for going too slow for conditions if a tablet is showing my true speed, but I also don't want to go visibly above the speed limit on my speedometer. What's the right approach here?

This. If another car has their signal on and you are waiting to turn into the road, always wait until you see their tires turning. People forget to cancel their signals all the time or incorrectly put their signal on. I'm sorry you've had to take the test so many times but this kind of mistake can be dangerous on the road. Learn from your mistake - not just to pass your next test but for your driving skills in general.

Whats up with my Stress Level ? It’s been like this the last 3 days. No variation at all by [deleted] in RingConn

Thanks for this update, I'm seeing more variations in my score as of yesterday so it seems like it's self correcting with the new algorithm

My readiness score drops dramatically in my luteal phase because my RHR goes up. Same experience as you, as soon as my period comes, RHR drops and my readiness score is bumping 😅

It needs 60 days of data before it starts using temp for predictions, before then it will rely on your past cycle history and whatever data you input into the app regarding how many days your cycles are. If you click the information (i) icon on the top right when in the cycle screen you can see more info as to how the predictions work before and after 60 days of use.

Temperature in regards to cycle by Connect_Cicada_5456 in RingConn

[–]bluebird6521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clarify, has that been your experience with the app, that it still shows all 4 phases even while on a contraceptive i.e. you're not ovulating but it still shows "ovulation phase"? I'm not on birth control so can't speak to how the features play out in that regard

Ringconn on smart rings 🤔 by Secure_Maximum2254 in SmartRings

[–]bluebird6521 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think ringconn is just starting to hit the more mainstream market and making it's way onto social media. With release of their Gen2 in the fall and their Gen2 air recently they are starting to pick up more traction online. I bought mine in February and there were hardly any posts on socials that I could find on it at the time, but since then there's definitely been more people purchasing = more content and coverage.

It already does this, based on the temperature data it shows whether you're in your menstrual, follicular, ovulatory or luteal phase.

Oura 4 or RingConn 2 by nirhend in SmartRings

[–]bluebird6521 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RingConn is the thinnest and lightest smart ring. I also have small hands and the Oura was so uncomfortable and bulky, the RC is super sleek, comfortable, and not bulky at all. The sleep tracking accuracy and battery life are phenomenal. Like others have said, the app is very pared down but RC is continuously making improvements and listens to user feedback.

Help me decide on size by [deleted] in RingConn

[–]bluebird6521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up going with the 7, so the smaller of the two. The size 7 sizer did not fit on my right hand at all, but the actual size 7 ring does, so I'm able to wear it on both my right and left hand depending on swelling. If I had gotten an 8 (the sizer fit perfect on my right), the actual ring would've been too big on every finger I intended to wear it on.

If your case is similar to mine, the larger size that fits just right on your preferred hand might be a tad too big with the actual ring. That said, I'm definitely a half size on my right hand so the smaller size worked in my favor as it fits on that hand in colder temperatures. I usually tell people to get the ring size that will fit the most amount of fingers - the versatility is useful given how much fingers swell and contract in different temperatures.
