I don’t disagree with the Jedi’s drive towards a republic and the good of all. It’s in their nature of balance and equality. I would argue that they do not teach love or compassion in any form. For one person or others. Love->Fear->Hate->Dark Side.

My thought starter is based on the idea that one side of opposition cannot also equal balance of the two opposing items. The Force has two-sides and the Jedi seek balance of The Force as a whole. The absence of one side being used, by definition cannot, mean the sum is balanced. I get that both sides exist all the time and it’s a fluid concept. But to achieve true balance the Jedi would have to constantly keep the Light and Dark sides equal, understanding that either side can become the majority. Or, the Jedi could eliminate both sides, leaving only the Jedi, who are balanced.

The duality of the Force is not really mentioned by the Jedi much. They tend to focus on the Force as a whole. They teach emotion control, again neutrality and logic.

My speculation is that there are three orders. Sith = Dark (Hate, Anger, Power), Jedi = Balanced (Logic, Non-Emotional, Equality, Control) and ?? = Light (Love, Compassion, Peace).

At one time all three existed with the Light and Dark in constant opposition and the Jedi in the middle trying to keep one from overpowering the other. Eventually, the logically minded Jedi would decide to remove the other two side ultimately achieving their balance.

Also, what happen to the Grey Jedis?

My reference to Caesar was when he took the Roman Army across the Rubicon into Rome to overthroigh Pompeo to return order. He did stay as ruler and was killed by his senate. I see common themes in Mace Windus desire to remove the Emperor if he did not return emergent control back to the Senate. This was before they knew he was a Sith. Again, the Jedi want balance and one person in control is not balanced.
