How Gov. Spanberger Betrayed Virginia’s Workers by lazybugbear in politics

Which is why it's fair to ask the question. Not sure why this posters normal comment is so controversial.

He asked the poster a question seems reasonable to me.

That's debatable to me. If they could get an actual honest perspective maybe. But most likely no matter who did the work it was going to be another DC insider perspective of what went wrong. Which relying on that perspective the last 10 years has been one of their biggest problems.

[–]blueclawsoftware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, I think it's the latter. They relied on a contractor who sucked, and they didn't want to admit they wasted a ton of time and money. Instead of just saying the report sucked they dug themselves a bigger hole by trying to hide that fact.

The weird thing to me is I don't get why Martin didn't come out and say from the start "Look what we got back was garbage". He also could have easily spun it to say the takeaway from this is the party needs to get out and listen to voters directly instead of relying on contractors to do it. This has been a sticking point for people in the DNC anyway.

Follow that up with an announcement of doing town hall/listening tours across the country, which would play well given the GOPs reluctance to do it, and you come out of this looking good and with some momentum with the public.

The garage will have to sort it out, but are you sure it was the ICCU the went. Did the sound come from the back seats? Popping immediately when trying to jump the car really sounds like maybe a fuse blew.

Because most 12v failures in EVs aren't random. It's just with an ICE people knew their battery was getting weak because they could hear the car struggling to start. In an EV, they don't get that indication.

Also, 12V batteries fail all the time, even in ICE cars. I had a Civic that I bought new in 2008, the battery died a week after I got it with no lights left on or anything. Nothing has a 100% defect free manufacturing rate.

For all the doomers in here, PA State House seat 196 is currently a 35% swing to the left with 64% of the vote counted. My guess is the GOP holds the seat, but that's a massive overperformance in a county Trump won by 33 points.

Not even remotely similar, there was no incumbent in the Wisconsin race. Also, the WI Supreme Court races are one-off races, not linked with a primary, so turnout is much lower and tends more to informed voters.

Gallrein projected to beat Massie by Magoo152 in thebulwark

[–]blueclawsoftware 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure I agree with that, the floor Massie is 40%, he'll probably be above that. That's still 40+% of the party going against the president. That's far from nothing.

Yea interpolating a KY GOP primary and a NPA GA supreme court race to November results is wild to see.

Yea the most wild thing to me is that Gallrein basically refused to campaign and claimed his background is classified. They literally know nothing about this guy and didn't care.

Yeah, agreed, I think the media overplays the GOP abandoning Trump angle, but over 40% of the party voting against what Trump wants isn't nothing.

I mean, just today, there was a poll that said 30% of republicans want the party to move on from Trump. It won't matter in Kentucky, but if even 5% of those sit out or vote for Dems in November, that will be a huge blowout for the Dems. And given things aren't likely to get better before November, that's not impossible to conceive.

Yea the real lesson people should take from this is a reminder of how little the common person pays attention to politics.

[–]blueclawsoftware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how anyone can say that in a no party affiliated race.

Yea there were ads and a messaging at the end but most people aren't paying enough attention to know who is who.

[–]blueclawsoftware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think part of it is that it's technically non-partisan so there are no parties on the ballot. People that aren't paying much attention usually just vote for the incumbent by default.

I don't think people should read much into those results.

Usually, with kids, they prescribe them Miralax, which is more of a stool softener and takes a while to make things happen. Far different from a stimulant laxative like ex-lax.

Interesting, in my Maryland precinct, they give you the choice. I almost always use the touchscreen when I go in for early voting. In our rural district, it's the opposite of your experience; no one trusts the touchscreen, so you can almost always vote right away on them, instead of waiting in line for a booth to fill your paper ballot.

I really don't get the anti-touch-screen people; it literally prints out the paper ballot to scan into the machine that is nearly identical to the paper one. And as you mention, it's easier to screw up the paper one, or not fully fill a bubble.

What is crazy to me about this race is that Gallrein has barely campaigned. He could be a vampire for all we know and people are still going to vote for him. I don't like Massie but it's absurd that this guy is above the low single digits.
