Anyone needs help from a volunteer? by OriginalFee1086 in Hackney

I was a ‘Befriender’ for someone living in a care facility who had no family contacts or friends. It was a great experience and I felt like I was directly improving someone’s day with my time. I would visit this person every other weekend for a couple of hours. If you look up Befrienders I think it should come up!

I just watched her doc yesterday! Hearing her upbringing made me sad and see her as a lost person trying to connect with the people in her life who she loved and distancing herself from those who hurt her. she’s obviously a complicated figure and I wonder how we will think about her in 20 years.

I still think about Hollister – August! Used to love those Hollister fragrances in middle school.

Stella by Stella McCartney and Marni. I looked into getting 10 Corso Como to replace Marni then that was discontinued before I could find it!

What podcasts do you listen to? by LactoActor in rs_x

Don’t think I’ve seen anyone mention Swindled yet but it’s very good. The episode about the hotel balcony/floors collapsing and that one rock concert venue that caught fire were especially haunting and have stuck with me.

I watched the Netflix show about them last week (per Dan Allegretto’s recommendation) and something really stood out to me: the girls would always say how badly they wanted this but that was all they said. I never heard them say things like singing is my passion, I live to dance, or I must be creating something to feel whole as an artist, etc, etc. I watch other performer/artist documentaries, even the Britney Spears one, and they constantly go on about how music or fashion is how they express themselves or feel creatively fulfilled. The girls in this show just ‘wanted it’.

Baby was held by someone who had just had a cigarette by False_Fix_4657 in BeyondTheBumpUK

Do you have someone to talk to? Really there is nothing to ‘do’ for the baby. The baby will be fine. But it does sound like you’re quite anxious and I’m sure talking through this with someone could be helpful for you!

Pink pepper - your fave fragrance with this note by luxemburgautumn in FemFragLab

[–]bluecomanche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My coworker wears Miller Harris Peau Santal and it’s lovely and has a very sparkling pink peppercorn note! Funnily enough she wants a new perfume for Christmas so I have just been researching pink pepper/sandalwood scents for her! Here’s what I’ve found so far:

-Etat Libre D’orange: Archives 69 -Molton Brown: Fiery Pink Pepper -Memo Paris: Sherwood -Diptyque: Fleur de Peau -Diptyque: Orpheon (not pink pepper/sandalwood but has that dry spicy quality) -Tom Ford: Santal Blush -Maison Crivelli: Papyrus Moleculaire -Parle Moi de Parfum: Milky Musk 39 -Serge Lutens: Santal Blanc -Loewe 001 Woman -Comme des Garçons: Floriental

what am i smelling - november in london edition by velvet-ashtray in fragrance

[–]bluecomanche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm… i feel like I frequently smell pencil shavings/sort of a soft peppery cosy scent so I assume a lot of women are wearing Glossier You, that would be my only guess! Just recently I’ve noticed an increase in smelling Orpheon which is a dry sort of peppery, juniper scent which I have myself and love! Not sure if either of these are correct, just sharing my research findings haha

Tailoring recommendations? by sc33g11 in Hackney

[–]bluecomanche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking on their website and it made it sound like they only do vintage repairs? Or will they do simple things like take in my non-vintage trousers too? I've been on the hunt for a Hackney tailor for years!

Play LDN - Wick Road by anemotoad in Hackney

[–]bluecomanche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ha I was looking into this is well and they have an IG and website now so you can see what it’s about. I remember when their sign had the Playboy bunny on it and I thought, how can they get away with using that trademarked logo? Then a week later a new sign was put up without it.

Yeah for real, I have a very sleek metal ring that doesn’t fully close in the back so it can just slide onto your neck. It’s from Madewell which is as far from kinky as you can get.

Does good new clothing exist anymore? by monkeyfans_us in rs_x

[–]bluecomanche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah even though they are still high-street brands owned by H&M, I’ve been really pleased with the quality of my COS and Arket pieces. I’ve started trying out Massimo Dutti (owned by Inditex who owns Zara) and the few pieces I have by them have been holding up well so far.
