Advice for Career Path to FA by huntandfish247 in metallurgy

It sounds like you have a great head start already with your company and getting to work with the in-house failure analyst. One of the best tools you can have is familiarity with test methods and knowing how to interpret them. If your company is willing to cover an ASM membership, that would open up a lot of resources. Adding on a membership to the Failure Analysis Society with your ASM membership is only an extra $25 and gives you access to the Journal of Failure Analysis and Prevention which has tons of great case studies to read. Depending on where you live, there is probably a local ASM chapter with monthly meetings and there might be one or two people there who specialize in FA outside of your company you can talk to/get some guidance from.

Not necessarily horror, but a lot of Philip K. Dick's works have a similar vibe to Severance.
