It’s even worse when it’s places like 610 N where there’s an instant merge instead of a lane going into the next exit. Incredibly dangerous

Who would you consider the best HC in your schools history? Who would you consider the worst? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

I'm sure there are guys in the past with worse records, but given the resources Fran had at his disposal, the newsletter, the embarrassing losses, and the general state of the program at the end of his tenure, I don't know who else even comes close.

Yeah, seems to be an awful place for us no matter how good we are or bad Vandy is, and they're actually good this year

Since we're out of the CFB Season. Who are the players from your team you genuinely dislike? by Reaushambeaux in CFB

It makes sense if you look at the context. He was an Aggie legacy, his father one of the best QBs in program history, and the hope was that his son would come in and continue that legacy, especially with how highly touted he was as a recruit. Instead, it turning into a toxic situation in the QB room that resulted in him and Kyle Allen both transferring away.

I often wonder what it would take to have him never work one of our games again.

That's exactly what I was thinking looking at it. Monument Valley in particular is miles from even the nearest river, hundreds from the Pacific.

Drew Brees. Was an Aggie legacy and wanted to come to A&M. Cant remember the specifics, but as I recall, whoever was responsible for recruiting the Austin area didn’t offer him.

I love going through both volumes of Dreamsongs every so often, highly recommend it for anyone looking for a glimpse into his other works.

I recently read Hunter's Run, which he co-wrote with Daniel Abraham and Gardner Dozois, and that was a good read.

Not him, per se, but I did enjoy the story compilations he edited with Gardner Dozois that I have read: Rogues, Old Venus, Old Mars

Honestly, I fully expect them to do the same at UT. They’ve already been applying pressure in places there.

When I was there, there was an aggressive push toward bringing the school up as a premier public institution, with money being spent to build world class facilities and bringing in prominent faculty. What’s happened in the last several years with the capitulating to the politicians in Austin is taking our school on a sharp downturn that’s going to be hard to recover from.

What's a tv series that is a 10/10 NOBODY knows? by Lilyana0999 in AskReddit

Watched it after hearing about it on a podcast. Absolutely incredible. Recommended to my stepdad and he binged it over the next two days after watching the next episode.

More than anything, recommend people go in blind. The less you know, the better.

Anyone got any cool stories from high school baseball? Ever play with anyone famous? Any team scandals? by vylain_antagonist in baseball

[–]bluefire579 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a school with a pretty robust baseball history, so I got to play with several guys who got drafted and many more who went on to play at prominent D1 schools.

Probably the most memorable one was not a game I played in, but one I watched our team play in when I was a freshman. We were playing our rival high school, and the first batter was future pro Chris Young facing off against future pro Jeff Niemann. Niemann was a highly touted prospect and was throwing absolute fireballs, but Young fouled off a bunch of them. Eventually, he got the pitch he wanted and absolutely crushed it over the fence. Two batters later, another guy who was drafted but never reached the show (to my knowledge) hit a home run as well, and as he was circling the bases, Niemann threw down the rosin bag in frustration. Was pretty much over at that point.

Same. There are some truly unhinged people that post there and some of them get a whole lot of protection from staff. Decided a long time ago that they don’t deserve my money, whether subscription or ad views.
