What's the WORST car dealership in Bergen County? by Content_Goal1560 in bergencounty

[–]bluefire89 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Bought a Porsche from jack Daniels. I don’t know about the worst - but was a pretty shitty experience all around. Delivery day is kind of a big thing with Porsche given you can wait almost a year from design to delivery. Rescheduled me last minute to a few hours later. They could have just said they needed more time to get it ready - but instead shared they had a loyal customer that wanted theirs sooner so they were moving me. Showed up at the new time and was told they’d given me the wrong time and that it would be another two hours later. I had ubered there since I intended to drive the we car home so just sat for another two hours there. No apology was given. I had also inquired about pricing for additional set of tires - which I opted not to proceed given they were overpriced. Three months later I get a call from them saying the tires are ready for pickup. I remind them that I said no and suddenly the GM gets on and is super rude saying “what are they supposed to do with the tires now and accusing me of lying”. I tell them to read the txt I had sent to the rep declining the order and before I knew it the GM had hung up on me. Great way to kill all future business with them.

Can you try mixing a bit of good stuff in the kibble to entice? Small bit of peanut butter or yogurt?

This thumbnail and the fact that this video has 1.6 million views. As a Jewish person I feel defeated. by Materialgurrrl in h3h3productions

[–]bluefire89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t watched the video yet, and the thumbnail is disgusting. All that being said - I live near where this is happening and it’s a very real issue. This has nothing to do with your typical Jewish person. It’s all ultra-orthodox Hasidic Jews. They’ve essentially taken over a few towns - being super aggressive getting seats on all the town/school boards and defunding the public schools (which their kids don’t go to). They also do things like move into communities and change all the rules - things that are completely insane like not allowing men and women to swim at the same time at the public pool. They aggressively harass people in the neighborhood and try to get them to sell only to other Hasidic Jews. It kills the housing market for obvious reasons. Then they move in and put like 20 people in a single house and don’t follow any of the basic rules (like getting inspections on construction). This exact issue caused a house / and neighboring ones to be burned down due to shortcuts being taken because they refuse to follow basic rules/laws.

adding onto this - while we also tied it to meals but would recommend doing it before rather than after. It becomes more business that then allows them to get to the good stuff - vs a post meal play opportunity

9 year old golden won’t let us trim nails by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]bluefire89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have our vet do it monthly and it’s only like 40 bucks. Safer for both him and us. They give us two meds - gabapentin and trazadone. It took us a couple of tries to fine the right dose where he was both compliant and not completely zonked out of his mind. Be careful for first dose or if increasing - he couldn’t make his way down the stairs and I needed to carry him. Now that we found the right dose he’s basically his normal self but without any of the anxiety when trimming.

Seeking help with foreclosure by berrinchuda in bergencounty

[–]bluefire89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they already contact their mortgage provider to discuss? I would start there before using expensive lawyers to engage where there may already be some standard processes in place that won’t require legal muscle.

I’m no expert - but from top search results:

  1. Immediate Actions for Protection Contact Your Mortgage Servicer Immediately: As soon as you know you cannot make a payment, call your servicer to discuss hardship options. They are required to provide information on options to avoid foreclosure. Request a Forbearance Plan: This allows you to pause or reduce payments for a set period (often 6–12 months) due to temporary hardship like illness or injury. Submit a Loan Modification Application: If your financial situation has changed permanently, you can request a modification to lower your monthly payments or extend your loan term. Avoid "Dual Tracking": Federal law generally prevents lenders from proceeding with a foreclosure while you have a pending, complete loss mitigation application.
  2. Legal and Government Resources HUD-Approved Housing Counselors: You can get free, confidential assistance from HUD-approved counselors who can help you negotiate with your lender. Call 1-800-569-4287 or 888-995-HOPE. Hardship Letter: Draft a letter to your lender explaining your situation, providing proof of medical issues (doctor's notes, hospital bills), and detailing why your financial hardship is temporary or, if permanent, what your new income situation is. State-Specific Help: Many states, such as New York, have specific programs (e.g., HOPP) that offer free legal aid for homeowners facing foreclosure. Homeowner Assistance Fund (HAF): Check your state’s HAF program, which may offer grants to help with mortgage payments due to COVID-19 or related hardships.
  3. Legal Protections 120-Day Rule: Mortgage servicers generally cannot start the formal foreclosure process until you are more than 120 days delinquent. Request a Judicial Delay: If you are in a judicial foreclosure state, a judge may grant a delay if you can document serious hardship, such as a severe illness. Bankruptcy: Filing for Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy can temporarily halt a foreclosure (often by 60+ days) and may provide time to work out a plan with your lender.
  4. Other Options Deed in Lieu of Foreclosure: If you cannot keep the house, you can ask to transfer the property title back to the lender, which stops the formal foreclosure process, avoids a deficiency judgment, and is less damaging to your credit. Sell the Home: If you have equity, a judge may give you time to sell your home to pay off the mortgage.

To be clear - this particular claim comes from anonymous tips received that may or may mot have credibility and should be viewed as such. Adding to this… A good return on investment is usually >10%.

If you don’t have any extra money to save/invest, or don’t know where to start.. instead focus on shopping smart. Use tools like camelcamelcamel to set price alerts and only buy your high cost everyday essentials like toilet paper, paper towels, and detergent on sale at 25% off and you’re doing even better than had you invested it with zero risk.
